Zurich has acquired Bright Box, a Hong Kong-based telematics startup for a still undisclosed amount.

The acquisition, which includes Bright Box’s subsidiaries, will bolster its connected car and mobile capabilities, according to Zurich.

Bright Box provides smartphone-based cloud technology that links drivers to vehicles and vehicles to automakers.

Zurich said its acquisition of the five-year-old company will help it build stronger relationships with both auto dealers and OEMs.

Bright Box already has multiple partnerships with OEMs and hundreds of car dealers around the world.

Giovanni Giuliani, Zurich’s strategy, innovation and business development officer, said Bright Box will enhance the insurer’s capabilities in data insights and analysis, providing customers more tailored and convenient solutions.
