Tokio Marine Kiln has appointed Jamie Tang as a property underwriter in Singapore. Tang will work with the property team and will have responsibility for the development of the portfolio across the Asia region.

Tang has a decade of underwriting experience, focused especially on Australia where he has a strong background in complex property business and developing broker relationships.

Alex Dugand, managing director for Asia, Tokio Marine Kiln, said: “It is a pleasure to welcome [Tang] to the team. Our property portfolio in Asia is a core and long-standing part of our business. Our success here is testament to the strong technical expertise of our underwriters and the quality of the relationships they build.”

He added: “Bringing [Tang] on board will complement our property offering across the region at a time when we can see many new opportunities, despite the challenging market environment.”

Tokio Marine Kiln recently decided to close its Hong Kong office following a market review.

Charles Franks, group chief executive of Tokio Marine Kiln, said: “Our Hong Kong team have all made huge contributions to our efforts in Asia and we will do all we can to support them through this difficult time.”

“We remain however, firmly committed to our Asian strategy and our Singapore and Shanghai offices will continue to operate and pursue their respective growth strategies; focusing on accident and health, aviation, marine cargo, trade credit, political risks, property, agriculture treaty reinsurance and property treaty reinsurance business throughout Asia.”
