Sun Life Philippines’ CEO to lead PLIAOctober 3 2019 by Yvonne Lau
The chief executive and country head of Sun Life Philippines, Benedict Sison, has been announced as the president of the Philippine Life Insurance Association (PLIA).
Prior to this appointment, he served as PLIA’s chairperson for the finance and investments committee. Sison (pictured) will step in to replace PLIA’s outgoing president, Hanz Loozekoot, who will head to Ageas as the chief business development officer for Asia.
A Sun Life veteran, Sison has been with the company since 2010. After serving as the Hong Kong-based chief financial officer for Asia until 2015, he returned to the Philippines to look lead strategy and financial management. In 2018, his promotion to country head and chief executive was announced.
Sison is also a senior advisor to the board of trustees at the Philippine Investment Funds Association (PIFA).
“With the increasing financial literacy of Filipinos and with digitalization paving the way for more opportunities, there are many exciting possibilities we can pursue as we strive to help Filipinos secure their future. Efforts are concentrated on expanding the public’s knowledge about the different financial instruments they can use and empowering them by guiding them in their financial journey,” said Sison in a PLIA statement.
Founded in 1950, PLIA encompasses 30 member companies, acting as a non-profit umbrella organisation for life firms in the country.
