The Insurance Board of Sri Lanka (IBSL) has announced the appointment of Asanga Abeyagoonasekera as a Board Director of the country’s insurance regulator.
Asanga was officially appointed by Sri Lanka’s Minister of Finance, Ravi Karunanayake, to the IBSL on 10 April.
Asanga was the former Executive Director of Lakshman Kadirgamar Institute for International Relations and Strategic Studies.
He has been serving the government sector for the last decade and was recognized as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum.
IBSL, which provides supervisory control of insurance companies in Sri Lanka, advises the government on policy and laws that would make the industry remain viable and able to meet its commitments to policyholders by helping them overcome risks.
