Assistant professor Chayanna Siripirom (pictured) has been appointed chief executive of Sompo’s Thailand business.
The Japanese-owned insurer provides a range of personal and business insurance in Thailand, including accident and health, marine, motor, property and travel.
Siripirom’s last role was as chief financial officer at Axa Thailand, also in Bangkok.
Overseeing the move is Yuji Kawauchi, president and managing director, Sompo Holdings (Asia). “[Siripirom’s] wealth of knowledge of both the local and regional markets, as well as her intimate understanding of the insurance industry will be a key advantage as we strive to create long-term value for all our stakeholders across the ecosystem,” he said.
Siripirom commented: “I expect to be working closely with all my colleagues, business partners, customers and other stakeholders to achieve further success in the years to come. The insurance industry in Thailand undergoes constant dynamic changes, making it both a challenging and competitive market.”
During her more than 20-year career, Siripirom has worked for both P&C and life insurance firms, in addition to conducting academic research and business consulting. In addition Siripirom is one of two vice presidents at the Society of Actuaries of Thailand.
