Philippine insurance regulator named first Mefin headJune 3 2016 by InsuranceAsia News Staff
Philippine Insurance Commission head Emmanuel Dooc has been elected chairman of the newly created Mututal Exchange Forum on Inclusive Insurance (Mefin Network) in Asia.
The Mefin Network comprises insurance regulators and representatives from the private sector in six Asian countries — the Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam, Mongolia, Pakistan and Nepal.
The network, according to Dooc, seeks to promote inclusive insurance in the region.
He added that it also aims to share views and pick out specific lessons relevant for the development of inclusive insurance in a national context.
Mefin will hold its first regional steering committee meeting in July in Manila.
The network was formed during the 3rd South Asian Regulators’ Meet and International Insurance Conference held on May 12-13 in Kathmandu, Nepal.
In his speech during the event, Dooc stressed the importance of regulator-industry dialogue and cooperation.
