Munich Re promotes Nicolas Carro to Australasia L&H CEONovember 27 2019 by Yvonne Lau
Long-standing Munich Re exec Nicolas Carro has been appointed the reinsurer’s life and health chief executive for Australia and New Zealand, from January 1.
Carro (pictured) is Munich Re’s chief financial officer for Australasia, defining and implementing finance strategies for life and non-life businesses. In his new role, Carro will look after the life and health business operations for two countries; and will succeed Andrew Linfoot, who will take up a regional role with the group.
Carro holds over 15 years of re/insurance experience. His career with Munich Re began in 2004 and has since held senior finance and capital management roles in Germany and Australia.
The role will have Carro remain based in Sydney, reporting to Daniel Cossette, chief executive for Munich Re life and health Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa.
Cossette commented: “[Carro] has a deep understanding of Munich Re’s business, our clients and the market environment in Australasia, having been based in Sydney for the past five years. He has a proven track record in setting a compelling vision and financial strategy for the company that is underpinned by his deep technical understanding of risk management and strong leadership skills.”
