Markel International has appointed Rajesh Sinha as head of personal accident, contingency and entertainment in Asia.
Sinha has 20 years’ experience as a regional underwriter, including with AIG, Chubb and MS First Capital.
Based in Singapore, Sinha becomes responsible for driving the development of products, as well as further developing a profitable and sustainable portfolio across Asia.
Contingency risks at Markel include event cancellations and adverse weather insurance, while entertainments covers the likes of film production insurance and advertising agents’ indemnity.
Matt Cannock, managing director for Asia, said, “Specialist insurance is at the core of Markel’s DNA and building a [personal accident, contingency and entertainment] team in Asia supports the growing needs of Asian clients.”
“With an increasing demand for these specialist classes of insurance in Asia, [Sinha’s] appointment also demonstrates our commitment to invest in the region.”
Sinha will work closely with Markel International’s personal accident, contingency and entertainment team in London, which is managed by James Leach, as well as with its offices in China, Hong Kong, India, Malaysia and Singapore.
Leach said: “Under [Sinha’s] leadership, we are confident of further strengthening our market presence across the region and, more importantly, developing well-tailored solutions for our clients.”
