Manulife has appointed Khoo Kah Siang as chief executive officer for its Singapore business.

He will join Manulife’s Asia executive committee and report directly to Manulife Asia CEO Anil Wadhwani.

Khoo, who comes to Manulife after a 12-year career at Great Eastern, will be responsible for the company’s operations in Singapore, including its life insurance, wealth management and retirement solutions businesses.

Most recently, he was Great Eastern’s senior managing director of strategic business development and regional bancassurance, responsible for growing its businesses across South-East Asia.

He has also previously been deputy director of the Monetary Authority of Singapore.

Khoo replaces Naveed Irshad, who was appointed head of North America legacy business, a dedicated senior leadership role with direct responsibility for Manulife’s closed legacy businesses in North America.

Khoo’s appointment is effective from February 9, 2018, subject to necessary regulatory approvals.
