AIA Bhd, Malaysia’s leading insurer, is set to announce the appointment of Anusha Thavarajah as its new CEO, taking over from Bill Lisle, who has led the insurance group since December 26 2012. The appointment makes Anusha the first-ever woman CEO of the Malaysian life insurer.
AIA is also set to announce key management changes at a press briefing on Wednesday.
Anusha was deputy general manager of finance and actuarial in AIA before she was promoted to the role of regional business development director in AIA Group Ltd.
Before joining AIA, Anusha was the was at ING serving as deputy to Nirmala Menon, the first woman CEO in Malaysia’s life insurance industry.
Anusha’s appointment as AIA CEO, which will take effect in June, still needs approval from Bank Negara Malaysia, the country’s financial regulator.
AIA offers various life insurance products in the country, including protection, health, personal accident, general insurance employee benefits, retirement and family takaful solutions.
