InsuranceAsia News wraps up the people moves from the insurance industry in Asia this week.
1. Liberty’s HK and Singapore distribution chief departs
Jacky Chan, Liberty’s chief distribution officer for Hong and Singapore, is set to leave the global insurer this week, InsuranceAsia News can reveal.
Chan has been with the American insurer since 2019, when he joined as the head of distribution for its Hong Kong P&C team.

2. Former Gallagher transactional risk head rejoins Marsh
William Zhao has rejoined Marsh in Australia as a senior M&A adviser within its private equity and M&A team, InsuranceAsia News exclusively reported.
Before Gallagher, where he was the head of transactional risk from August 2022 until February 2026, Zhao spent more than four and a half years at Marsh, where he was a vice president within the broker’s transactional risks team.

3. Lockton confirms former BMS CEO as Asia chief growth officer for risk solutions
Lockton has appointed Sandra Lee as chief growth officer for risk solutions in Asia, reporting to Asia CEO Tony Hardy.
Lee joins from M&A specialist broker BMS, where she served as Asia CEO before the firm shut its regional office, as IAN previously reported.

4. Axa XL Re’s CEO returns to Guy Carpenter as China, Hong Kong managing director
Guy Carpenter has named Phil Xue as managing director and chief operating officer for Mainland China and Hong Kong, effective from August 1.
Xue will return to Guy Carpenter from Axa XL Re China, where he has been CEO since April 2024. From 2018 until 2024, Xue was CEO and country manager for China at Axa XL.

5. Markel promotes senior underwriter to head of casualty for greater China
Markel International has promoted Jenny Choi to head of casualty for greater China, having previously served as senior underwriter for international casualty.
Before joining Markel in July 2024, Choi worked at Swiss Re as senior casualty facultative underwriter for almost two years.
6. Munich Re Specialty names commercial claims, surety heads
Munich Re Specialty – Global Markets has appointed Angus Kench as head of commercial claims in Australia from July 1.
Sydney-based Kench, a Liberty Specialty Markets veteran, was most recently vice president Asia Pacific for casualty, workers’ compensation and crisis management claims.
The firm also promoted Philip Steinbach to head of surety underwriting for Australia.
Sydney-based Steinbach was most recently a senior underwriting consultant for surety when he joined the insurer 10 months ago.

7. Saudi Re appoints leader for Gift City operations
Saudi Re has appointed Ruchi Jain as principal officer of its Gift City Branch.
Jain, who began the role in May, joins from Swiss Re, where she had spent over a decade in underwriting roles.

8. Coface names Asia Pacific head of sales
Aleksandra Kaczmarek has rejoined Coface as regional head of sales for Asia Pacific.
In her first stint with Coface, Kaczmarek was an account executive for banks and financial institutions between March 2017 and December 2019, relocating to Singapore from Stuttgart, Germany for the role.
9. Chubb reshuffles Malaysia leadership, Australian distribution team
Chubb has appointed Gurudutt Joglekar as deputy country president for Malaysia.
Joglekar was previously Generali’s country chief insurance officer for Malaysia in March 2023.
Chubb Australia has appointed Mark Roberts, Annelisa Richardson, and Brendan Behm to newly established national relationship manager roles within the distribution team.
In this capacity, Roberts, Richardson and Behm will be responsible for managing key distribution relationships with Envest, Steadfast, and Austbrokers, respectively.

10. Market Lane elevates business development manager to head of ML Specialty
Australian MGA Market Lane Insurance Group has promoted Bobby Major to head of ML Specialty.
Sydney-based Major has been with Market Lane since September 2023. He previously worked within Market Lane’s partnerships and engagement team, where he was a business development manager for Australia and New Zealand.
11. Helia Group taps CEO, managing director
Australian lenders’ mortgage insurance (LMI) provider Helia Group has appointed Mark Senkevics as CEO and managing director, effective on or before December 1.
Sydney-based Senkevics will take over from interim CEO Michael Cant, who has been interim CEO since July 1, 2025.
12. Aviso Specialty hires lead for new risk intelligence division
Aviso Specialty has launched a new division intended to give clients access to senior management-led risk advisory services led by former Marsh executive Nicholas Martin.
Martin, who is based in Sydney, has over 30 years of experience in risk management and security, most recently head of Marsh advisory for the Pacific region and was previously Pacific head of strategic risk consulting.

13. Gallagher Australia poaches senior corporate broking trio from Aon
Gallagher Australia has appointed Joshua Heron as corporate manager, Sarah Alexander as account manager, and Michael Hambleton as client manager in Queensland.
Hermon spent over 13 years with Aon, most recently serving as a client director since April 2025.
Alexander, meanwhile, has been with Aon for over two decades, most recently as senior client executive since December 2022.
Hambleton has been with Aon Risk Services for 19 years, joining in June 2007 as a client manager and director.
14. Howden adds ex-BMS executive to Asia M&A team
Howden has hired Chloe Cha as an associate director within its Asia M&A team, continuing its transaction liability hiring spree in the region, strengthening the broker’s capabilities in South Korea.
She was formerly at BMS, where she was a director on the broker’s Korea desk from April 2022 until June 2026.

PartnerRe chief executive for Asia Pacific, James Beedle, has stepped down from his role. In April, PartnerRe announced Beedle’s plan to retire, with Sasa Hu handed the role of CEO for P&C in APAC.
The Singapore Reinsurers’ Association (SRA) has made Berkley Re’s Asia Pacific CEO, Glen Riddell, as its new chair following the retirement of James Beedle. Alongside Riddell as chair, the SRA will also be led by Lloyd’s Asia CEO Emma Loynes as deputy chair, while Munich Re’s Michael Hauer has been named as honorary secretary. Scor’s Mukul Kishore is the honorary treasurer.
