Institutional Asset Management Awards 2019: The winners

April 17 2019 by InsuranceAsia News Staff

The winners of this year’s awards for asset managers specialising in investment portfolios for insurance companies have been announced by InsuranceAsia News.

The second annual Institutional Asset Management Awards recognises once again the exceptional work done by third-party asset managers on behalf of their insurance company clients across the Asia Pacific region.

The awards are given across asset classes, specialist services and individual countries. They serve to highlight expertise in the many different facets of asset management, including portfolio management, quantitative and data solutions, through to ESG strategies.

Amundi Asset Management is this year’s winner of the marquee award for Institutional Asset Manager of the Year. The firm showed strongly across the board on new client wins, product development and fund performance. The French company has made a strong commitment to building out its Asian asset management business, with a real focus on insurance and pension clients.

Amundi also won the award for Best Active Asset Manager. Other multiple award winners this year included BNP Paribas Asset Management – Best Multi-Asset Fund House, Best Asia Equities Manager and Best ESG Strategy. JP Morgan Asset Management won awards for Best Alternatives Manager, Best ETF Product and Best Technology Strategy as well as winning the award for Insurance Fund House of the Year for Hong Kong.

Western Asset Management is making great strides with insurance clients and was given two awards this year, Best Asia Fixed Income Manager and Insurance Fund House of the Year for Australia.

Index specialists MSCI and S&P Dow Jones were prominent winners, with MSCI coming out top in the Best Global Index Provider award, while S&P won the award for Best ETF Index Provider.

The list of winners also includes a Best Global Equities Manager award for RBC Asset Management, Best Global Fixed Income Manager for Barings, Best Emerging Markets Equity Manager for Franklin Templeton, Best Multi-Asset Income Fund House for Investec and Best Risk Management Firm for Conning.

IAN’s Institutional Asset Management Awards have received a tremendous response from the market, in terms of the quality and sheer number of entries. We’d like to thank you once again for your support.

A celebratory dinner for the winners will be held at the JW Marriott hotel in Hong Kong on June 26. InsuranceAsia News will publish a special Institutional Asset Management Awards magazine to coincide with the Awards Dinner.
