Hong Kong Confederation of Insurance Brokers appoints Rath as chairmanDecember 5 2018 by InsuranceAsia News Staff
The Hong Kong Confederation of Insurance Brokers has reappointed Bhawani Rath, founder and managing director of Premier Insurance Brokers (pictured), as chairman of the Hong Kong Confederation of Insurance Brokers’ general committee. Rath has served in the role since November 2014.
In addition to Rath’s appointment, Patrick Chan, director and general manager, Nova Risk Services, has also been reappointed as deputy chairman. Chan is a past chairman of the broking organisation.
When the Hong Kong Insurance Authority starts formally regulating brokers in the middle of 2019, the Confederation of Insurance Brokers has pledged to continue to help promote higher professional standards, assist members on compliance matters and to support CIB’s objectives to “promote a breed of brokers that…society can rely upon”.
The broking market in Hong Kong has long been self-regulated and overseen by the Confederation of Insurance Brokers and the Professional Insurance Brokers’ Association.
The appointments happened at the CIB’s annual general meeting on November 27 and will last a year until the next AGM in late 2019.
