1. Gallagher Re Asia Pacific ex-chair joins XS Global treaty team
Mark Morley, the former Asia Pacific chairman and deputy chairman for international at Gallagher Re, has joined MGA XS Global’s treaty reinsurance team.
Morley will team up with his former Gallagher Re colleague Mark O’Brien to develop and expand XS Global’s treaty proposition and portfolio across Asia, according to a LinkedIn post by XS Global Asia Pacific chief executive Steve Barnett.

2. Ardonagh-backed MDS Group swoops for senior adviser for international development
Former Nova Insurance Group managing director Patrick Chan has joined Portuguese broker MDS Group, which is part of the Ardonagh Group, as a senior adviser for international development.
Chan, who retired from Hong Kong-based Nova last year, joined MDS this month, and will focus on business development in Iberia, Latin America and Africa, connecting clients with the group’s local capabilities.

3. Howden Singapore promotes Joyce Hor to COO

Howden Singapore has promoted Joyce Hor to COO, according to a LinkedIn update.
Hor brings over 25 years of experience in the finance sector, including 10 years with Howden, starting as a finance controller before being promoted to her most recent role as finance director in 2022.

4. Bowring Marsh promotes new head of Southeast Asia and Pacific
Rachel Burger been appointed as head of Southeast Asia and the Pacific at Bowring Marsh Asia, the specialist global wholesale division of Marsh.

5. Charles Taylor new Australia managing director
Loss adjuster Charles Taylor has promoted Andrew Milne to managing director for Australia. Milne steps up from his role as director of natural resources, a position he has held since 2024.

6. Swiss Re promotes Iris Cheung to head of L&H reinsurance for Hong Kong, Taiwan

Swiss Re has promoted Iris Cheung to head of life and health reinsurance for Hong Kong and Taiwan, effective from November 1.
Cheung succeeds Torben Swart, who was promoted to managing director and appointed head of technical and operational excellence for APAC, excluding China, effective from August 1.

7. Axa XL appoints property, construction, energy CUO for APAC and Europe
Axa XL has appointed Markus Posberg as CUO for property, construction and energy for APAC and Europe, according to a press release.
Cologne-based Posberg will oversee the underwriting strategy for property, construction and energy across Europe, Asia and Australia.

Aviso Specialty has hired Peter Sun as its chief operating officer for schemes and affinity. Sydney-based Sun joins from Marsh, where he was COO for affinity in the Pacific region.

9. bolttech names new APAC CEO, succeeding Philip Weiner

bolttech has appointed Emma Butler as its new Asia Pacific CEO, succeeding Philip Weiner, who is transitioning to become CEO of the insurtech’s North America business.
Weiner is succeeding Jon Walheim, who is transitioning to become an adviser to CEO Rob Schimek.

Chubb has promoted Hong Kong-based Jeremy Lai to head of its cyber and technology practice. Lai has been with Chubb for almost seven and a half years, and was most recently cyber and technology practice lead and senior underwriter for industry practice

Specialty insurer Markel has made a pair of promotions within its Australia business.
James Vlasveld has been promoted to senior underwriter for professional and financial risks, while James Crawford has been promoted to senior casualty underwriter.

12. IFFCO Tokio General Insurance appoints operations director
IFFCO-Tokio General Insurance has been named Sanjeev Chopra as director of operations.
According to IFFCO-Tokio’s website, Chopra’s previous roles with the insurer include CFO and executive director for finance.
