Axis Asia founder returns in SingaporeApril 26 2019 by Andrew Tjaardstra
Global search firm Eliot Partnership has appointed Andreas Thiele as executive chairman, Asia-Pacific and as a partner.
Thiele (pictured) joins from Axis Specialty where he was Asia Pacific managing director since being instrumental in first establishing the company’s footprint in the region 15 years ago; he left Axis earlier this year and will start his new role in July.
In the newly-created position at Eliot Partnership, Thiele will be based in the firm’s Singapore office, which is led by partner Ricarda Simon, and will work with the firm’s global and regional management team to grow its Asia Pacific footprint.
Andrew Eliot, founder and managing partner of Eliot Partnership, said: “[Thiele] is a respected leader in the (re)insurance industry who, besides having a distinguished track record in underwriting and broking, has a tremendous reputation for being a genuine and down-to-earth operator with an acclaimed aptitude for sense and reason.”
“We are fortunate to have attracted such a person to Eliot Partnership and we all look forward to working with him in a multitude of ways across our global business.”
Thiele has held senior management positions with firms including Aon, Gur Carpenter, and Sydney Re in Europe, New York, London, Sydney and in Singapore where he has spent the last 20 years.
