Ranger returns with financial lines MGAOctober 29 2018 by InsuranceAsia News Staff
Independent managing general agent Criterion Underwriting has started operating this week.
Criterion’s products include cyber and financial lines for financial institutions, SMEs and individual retail customers, while the firm has plans to offer marine insurance by the end of the year.
The Singapore-based MGA is led by Jonathan Ranger, chief executive of Criterion Underwriting (pictured), and chief underwriting officer Shan Sagoo. Ranger was formerly chief executive of Munich Re Syndicate Singapore, while Sagoo has more than 20 years of underwriting and broking experience in financial lines.
Ranger commented: “We believe our competitive advantage lies in specialising within the products we offer and leveraging enhanced service standards plus our underwriting and management experience.”
Etiqa Insurance is providing capacity for the MGA which includes a direct cyber policy for consumers in Singapore costing S$80 a year.
The lead investors in Criterion are Asia Re Holdings and BP Marsh & Partners.
