Berger to join Swiss Re Corporate Solutions as CEOSeptember 25 2018 by InsuranceAsia News Staff
Andreas Berger (pictured) has been appointed group chief executive of Swiss Re Corporate Solutions and a member of the group executive committee.
He joins from Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty, where he was chief regions and markets officer and a member of the board of management since 2011, focusing on Germany, Central and Eastern Europe, the Mediterranean and Africa.
“With Andreas Berger’s appointment, we are pleased to have attracted a very capable candidate with a strong track record in the insurance industry to continue leading our Corporate Solutions’ business and further improve its international business capabilities,” said Swiss Re chairman Walter Kielholz.
Berger will start on April 1 next year and replace outgoing chief executive Agostino Galvagni, who has decided to step down at the end of the year after more than six years at the helm.
Galvagni will remain as an adviser during the transition.
