US giant AIG has appointed Steve Gibbs as Asia head of claims for general insurance, with the start date in January 2020.
In the regional role based in Singapore, Gibbs will establish and implement AIG’s claims strategy across Asia.
Gibbs, who has 22 years of experience, joins from Axa XL, where he was the international P&C claims practice leader. Prior to that, he spent almost nine years at Catlin Australia as claims manager and legal counsel, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Gibbs will report directly to the company’s international head of claims, Steve Agutter and chief executive of Asia, Sachin Shah.
Agutter commented: “[Gibbs] is a recognised industry leader with extensive claims experience across both commercial and consumer lines. His success in improving claims efficiency, execution quality and ability to build high performing teams will ensure AIG is at the forefront of claims excellence.”
AIG recently tapped Liam Burrell to serve as the head of client and broker engagement for general insurance in Asia; Burrell is based in Singapore and also reports to Shah.
