Aaron Fryer starts regional Allianz CFO roleJanuary 10 2019 by InsuranceAsia News Staff
Allianz has promoted Aaron Fryer (pictured), deputy regional chief financial officer, to the role of regional chief financial officer for Asia Pacific.
Having started on January 1, Fryer is responsible for managing all aspects for the finance division, including actuarial, business reporting, finance, risk management and tax.
He will become a member of the regional executive board and be based in the Singapore regional office, reporting to George Sartorel, Allianz Asia Pacific’s regional chief executive.
Fryer assumes the role previously held by Renate Wagner, who will continue in her other role as Allianz’s regional head of life and health insurance, Asia Pacific, and remain a member of the regional executive board.
“[Fryer’s] extensive experience in insurance and financial operations will be a tremendous asset to Allianz as we look to drive stronger growth and profitability in the region,” said Sartorel. “We also thank [Wagner] for her stewardship of the regional finance function in the last three years, which has positioned Allianz well for future success.”
Fryer, a fellow of the Actuaries Institute of Australia, joined Allianz in 2018 as deputy regional chief financial officer, and brings more than 20 years of financial services experience, with more than half of that within business roles throughout South-East Asia. Prior to joining Allianz, he served as country chief financial officer for Prudential Indonesia.
