1. Steadfast confirms immediate departure of Australasia broking CEO
Australian insurance broker Steadfast has confirmed the immediate departure of Australasia broking CEO Tim Mathieson.
Mathieson was also named acting chief executive officer while CEO and managing director Robert Kelly stood down temporarily during an investigation into a workplace complaint.

2. Swiss Re names new Australia and New Zealand chief
Swiss Re has appointed Benjamin Savill as its new CEO of Australia and New Zealand.
Savill’s appointment is effective from October 1, subject to regulatory approval, and he succeeds Trent Thomson, who is shifting to the role of global head of specialty reinsurance.

3. Seadrif taps chief operating officer
Xinmei Zheng has joined the Southeast Asia Disaster Risk Insurance Facility (Seadrif) as chief operating officer.
Singapore-based Zheng brings nearly two decades of experience in non-life insurance and reinsurance, with expertise across Southeast Asia, including regional leadership roles with Swiss Re and Munich Re

4. QBE Asia hires senior property underwriter in Singapore
QBE Asia has appointed Kwang Hun Cho as a senior property underwriter in Singapore.
Singapore-based Cho joins from Chubb, where he spent nearly nine years in underwriting roles in South Korea and Singapore.

5. Consilium appoints associate partner in Singapore following license approval
Global speciality (re)insurance broker Consilium has appointed Ben Compton as an associate partner in its cedent facultative risk solutions team in Singapore following the approval of its broking licence from the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) on Wednesday.
Compton joins Robert Drysdale, who leads the Singapore office, from Marsh, where he was most recently vice president for property, political violence, and terrorism.

6. AIG’s specialty department head returns to Berjaya Sompo as head of marine, aviation
Berjaya Sompo Insurance has appointed Ying Ying Lee as head of marine, aviation and regional product leader.
Kuala Lumpur-based Lee rejoins the insurer following over 15 years at AIG, where she was head of department for specialty since April 2011 and APAC lead for marine liability since July 2020, having spent three years between 2008 and 2011 as the head of department for marine underwriting in her first stint with Berjaya Sompo.

7. Aon adds transaction solutions associate director for Asia 
Aon has added Jessie Shi to its Asia transaction solutions team in Shanghai as an associate director.
Shi, who is a qualified lawyer and certified public accountant, previously held roles at Chinese law firm Jun He, PwC and Intel Corporation.

8. Delta Insurance Australia appoints new head of underwriting
Delta Insurance Australia has appointed Jane Mason as its new head of underwriting.
Mason joined from Lloyd’s syndicate Probitas 1492, where she was head of commercial business in Sydney.
9. Howden appoints director of structured credit for North Asia
Howden has appointed Maisie Ng as director of structured credit for North Asia.
Hong Kong-based Ng will focus on business development and strategic relationship management as Howden continues to strengthen its presence and capabilities across the region.

10. Markel hires AIG’s financial head as Asia Pacific CFO
Markel Insurance has appointed Abbas Choker as its chief financial officer for Asia Pacific with immediate effect.
Based in Singapore, Choker will lead Markel’s APAC finance function and support the Lloyd’s carrier’s continued regional expansion.
