InsuranceAsia News wraps up the people moves from the insurance industry in Asia this week.
1. Ardonagh nabs Aon head for Asia CEO role
The Ardonagh Group has hired Aon’s Southeast Asia head, Andrew Minnitt, as CEO of its Asia business.
Subject to regulatory approvals, Minnitt will also take on the role of CEO of Price Forbes Singapore, reporting to Philip Johnson, chief commercial officer of Price Forbes and investor director for Ardonagh in Asia.

2. QBE underwriting head set to leave for Sompo Hong Kong role
Kelvin Woo, QBE’s head of corporate underwriting for Hong Kong and Macau, is set to leave the insurer and join Sompo, InsuranceAsia News exclusively reported.
Hong Kong‑based Woo is expected to join the Japanese insurer in May in a distribution‑focused role.
QBE told InsuranceAsia News that his responsibilities would be covered by other members of QBE Hong Kong and Macau’s corporate underwriting team until a successor is appointed.

3. Howden appoints senior director for M&A in Asia
Howden has appointed Kyle Chan as a senior director for M&A in Asia, according to a LinkedIn post from the broker.
Hong Kong-based Chan was most recently a consultant lawyer for transactions with legal firm Linklaters.

4. Aon names director for Thailand power team, hands Taiwan CEO additional chairperson role
Aon has appointed Suwipamon Tan as director of its power team in Thailand.
Bangkok-based Tan has over two decades of experience in insurance roles, and joins from Howden Maxi (a merger of Maxi Insurance Broker Limited and Howden Thailand), where she had been a senior consultant for its power team since January 2025.
The broker also appointed Lee Huang Ng as chairperson for Taiwan, in addition to her role as chief executive officer.
Ng was appointed CEO for Taiwan a year ago, when she took over the role from Ernest Leung, Aon’s current Hong Kong CEO.

5. SBI General Insurance taps new chief business officer
India’s SBI General Insurance has appointed Shrish Ramchandra Mahuli as chief business officer.
Mahuli would be responsible for driving the general insurer’s overall business strategy, expanding distribution channels, and enhancing customer-centric growth initiatives, while bolstering SBI General’s presence across key markets

6. HDFC Ergo elevates veteran to deputy managing director
HDFC Ergo General Insurance has promoted Samir Shah to managing director and chief executive officer.
Mumbai-based Shah has been with the carrier for nearly two decades, most recently as an executive director since June 2018.

7. MLX Risk Partners names head of operations
Australian MGA MLX Risk Partners has appointed Mathew Dilley as its new group head of operations.
Dilley has joined from Aon Benfield in Sydney, where he had been a facultative reinsurance broker since November 2011

8. Zurich hires senior marine underwriter in Singapore 
Zurich Insurance has hired Marcus Seow as a senior marine underwriter in Singapore.
Seow joins Zurich after almost 14 years at Axa XL, where he was a senior underwriter for marine cargo.

9. Allianz Trade appoints commercial director for China
Allianz Trade has appointed Bruce Lan as its commercial director for China.
Shanghai-based Lan has been with the trade credit insurer for nearly a decade, joining as regional sales manager for multinationals for APAC in September 2016.

10. Fusion Specialty bolsters APAC team with pair of M&A underwriters
Specialist transaction liability MGA Fusion Specialty said that it has appointed Jason Yoon Lee and Nicholas Wright as M&A underwriters.
Lee is based in Singapore and has joined from PwC, where he was a senior associate focused on corporate tax advisory.
Wright, meanwhile, is based in Sydney and was previously a commercial partner at gaming company Entain.

11. Pacific Prime promotes senior accoint manager to lead property, casualty, financial lines team in Singapore
Pacific Prime Insurance Brokers has promoted Paul Cheung to the role of team leader for its property, casualty, and financial lines team in Singapore.
Cheung has been with Pacific Prime for over six and a half years, and he was most recently a senior account manager for property, casualty, and financial lines.

12. Lockton strengthens transaction liability team with VP hiring
Lockton has strengthened its transaction liability team with the hiring of Faith Swee as vice president.
Kuala Lumpur-based Llugdar has more than 30 years of insurance experience, most recently as head of damage motor claims and expert technical advisory at Allianz Singapore, where he worked for nearly three years.
