InsuranceAsia News wraps up the people moves from the insurance industry in Asia this week.

1. AIG head of cyber departs after six years

AIG‘s head of cyber, Christopher Cheung, has departed the firm after six years, industry sources told InsuranceAsia News (IAN).

His new role and next destination remain unconfirmed.

Cheung is a senior figure within Hong Kong’s cyber insurance market, with over 20 years of experience.

2. Marsh names Korea CEO, reshuffles APAC claims, Pacific client services leadership

Marsh has appointed Kyung Tae Koo as CEO of Marsh Korea, effective from Wednesday.

Seoul-based Koo will oversee the operations of Marsh Korea, including Marsh Risk and Mercer businesses.

The broker also appointed David Brumpton as head of client services for Marsh Pacific and Jonathon Fox as Asia Pacific claims leader for Marsh Risk.

Brumpton brings more than 40 years of expertise working with clients across Australia and Asia.

Fox’s new, expanded role, meanwhile, includes responsibility for the claims advocacy, risk smart and claims management services functions for the Pacific as well as the claims operations function.

3. Niyam Group name principal officer for new Gift City reinsurance branch

India-focused reinsurer Niyam Group has appointed Sumit Aneja as principal officer for its new Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (Gift City) branch.

Aneja was most recently a Global Business Services transformation specialist at Deloitte, a role he held for almost four years, based in London.

Earlier this month, Niyam Group received approval from Lloyd’s for Syndicate 2047, the first syndicate dedicated to supporting the Indian market.

4. Howden taps Axa director as Asia COO, hires Hong Kong claims head

Howden has appointed Andy Buddell as its new COO for Asia, based in Malaysia.

Buddell was most recently director of operations for international markets at Axa, where he worked for seven years.

The broker also appointed Mani Tsang as head of claims for their Hong Kong team.

She joins from HDI Global, where she was a claims manager since August.

5. Generali appoints CEO to lead India P&C JV

Generali has named Krishnamoorthy Rao as CEO of its India P&C business.

He will take charge of Generali Central Insurance, its Indian P&C joint venture with the Central Bank of India, effective Wednesday.

6. Howden Re names new Hong Kong chairman

Reinsurance broker Howden Re has appointed Henry To as chairman for Hong Kong, effective from Wednesday.

To, who has more than four decades of reinsurance experience, will work closely with the senior leadership team, supporting the continued growth and strengthening of the business in Hong Kong, as well as the broader region, including China.

7. Delta Insurance New Zealand promotes CUO to managing director

Delta Insurance New Zealand has named Dinesh Murali as its new managing director, replacing Andrew Beaton following his move to a new APAC-focused role earlier this month.

Murali, who is based in Auckland, has been with Delta Insurance New Zealand for 12 years.

8. Aon makes multiple changes across APAC marine, reinsurance, cyber teams

Aon’s Nick Chapman has been promoted to an expanded regional role, extending his responsibilities beyond cargo and logistics to include the marine risk engineering lead in Asia.

Singapore-based Chapman has been with Aon for just under two and a half years, having joined from AIG in London in December 2023.

Aon has also tapped Nazirah Taouk as a regional director within its Asia marine business in Singapore.

Taouk joins from Marsh, where she spent almost seven years in various senior claims roles.

The broker also appointed Nathan Cheung as director and head of construction, power and infrastructure in Hong Kong.

With over 25 years of experience across leading firms in Hong Kong, Cheung specialises in construction and engineering insurance.

Aon’s reinsurance solutions has appointed Jukgrid Treesuttamas as senior adviser in Thailand.

He has more than 40 years of experience in reinsurance, spanning technical underwriting, broking and advisory work and has held senior leadership roles, including at broker Lockton Wattana.

Aon Australia has promoted Alexander Eakins to client director for cyber solutions, and Maria Kemiji-McDonald to head of fintech and digital economy.

Sydney-based Eakins has been with Aon for nearly two decades, most recently as the client manager for the cyber solutions group since January 2023.

Meanwhile, Kemiji-McDonald, also based in Sydney, has been with Aon for over a decade.

9. MSIG taps Singapore’s MD, Hong Kong deputy CEO

MSIG has named Kensuke Hirai as the new managing director of its Singapore branch, succeeding Ken Unoki.

Hirai will take over as head of MSIG Singapore from Wednesday, with Unoki set to take up a role at MSIG’s head office in Japan.

The insurer also named Masanori Ishibashi as its new deputy CEO of Hong Kong, also effective Wednesday.

He is replacing Shujiro Suzuki, who is moving to take up a new role within the newly established the newly formed Sumitomo Mitsui Insurance & Insurance Services Company.

10. Coface names new head of commercial for Hong Kong

Coface has promoted Carmen Chow to head of commercial for Hong Kong, effective April 1.

Chow has been with the trade credit insurer in Hong Kong for five years, joining as a commercial development manager for Japanese solutions, before being promoted to senior commercial development manager in April 2022.

11. PSC chief executive to steer Envest broking pillar in organisational rejig

PSC Insurance Brokers chief executive Benjamin Goodall has been promoted to CEO of Envest Broking as part of the reorganisation of its broking operations pillar.

Goodall joined Envest following its acquisition of ASX-listed PSC Insurance Brokers in October 2024.

The broking pillar will be supported by a strong and experienced broking executive team, including Jeff Moule, Travis Kemp, Ben Hastie, Josh Roach, and Sarah Grant, the company said.

12. Rokstone adds underwriter to Singapore marine team

Specialty MGA Rokstone has added Jackie Lan as an underwriter to its Singapore marine team.

Lan has joined Rokstone’s marine team in Singapore after 11 years at QBE Insurance, where she was a senior underwriter for marine hull and liability.

13. QBE hands senior underwriter expanded role as head of operational power generation, ESG for Asia

QBE Asia has handed senior engineering underwriter Mandy Chan an expanded role as head of operational power generation and ESG for the region.

Singapore-based Chan will continue to lead and strengthen QBE’s operational power generation portfolio and underwriting capability across Asia, as well as leading insurer’s regional ESG initiatives.

14. McLarens promotes duo to Vietnam directors

Global loss adjuster McLarens has appointed Hang Dong and Quang Nguyen as directors of its Vietnam business, effective from Wednesday.

Hanoi-based Dong joined McLarens Vietnam in 2008, having deep technical expertise across complex P&C claims, including large-scale industrial losses, infrastructure projects, and catastrophe events.

Meanwhile, Ho Chi Minh City-based Nguyen brings over 15 years of experience managing large and complex non-marine claims across Vietnam and internationally, with expertise spanning property, energy, engineering, and business interruption.
