1. Munich Re appoints head of non-life Australasia

Munich Re has promoted Michaela Hannemann to head of non-life for Australasia, effective from May 1.

She will relocate to Sydney as she currently serves as chief casualty underwriting officer and head of corporate underwriting for casualty, aviation, marine, and legal, based in Munich.

2. QBE hires senior claims specialist for major, complex claims

Marcus Robertson has returned to QBE as a senior claims specialist for major and complex claims, according to a LinkedIn update.

Robertson previously spent three and a half years at QBE as a property claims officer from January 2018 until June 2021.

3. Miller taps Gallagher Re’s executive director as head of treaty for Asia

Specialist (re)insurance broker Miller has bolstered its treaty reinsurance team with the appointment of Sailesh Divakaram as head of treaty for Asia.

He joined the firm on February 2 after eight years with Gallagher Re, and will be responsible for developing the team serving Miller’s growing client base across Asia.

4. Willis appoints Pacific head of risk and analytics

Willis has tapped Michelle Ng as head of risk and analytics for the Pacific region.

In her new role, Ng will lead Willis’ risk and analytics team, which is responsible for delivering data-driven insights, actuarial expertise, and advanced risk modelling capabilities to clients in Australia, New Zealand and the wider Pacific region.

5. Markel adds duo to greater China PFR team

Markel said that it has appointed Hong Kong-based duo Johnny Zhang and Jon Tam as senior underwriter and underwriter, respectively.

Zhang will focus on management liability and the development of new product initiatives, particularly AI-related segments, Markel said.

Tam, meanwhile, is focused on expanding Markel’s commercial professional indemnity book in North Asia.

6. Allied World hires senior D&O underwriter

Sam Williams has joined Allied World as a senior D&O underwriter within its Australia professional lines division.

Williams has joined Allied World following an 11-month career break. He was formerly an underwriter at Canopius in London for five years from November 2019 until October 2024.

7. Gallagher appoints senior broker for marine in Singapore

Gallagher has appointed Jojo Su as senior broker for Marine.

Su joins from WTW, where she was the lead associate for large and complex risk and the risk management team since June 2024.

8. Aon’s L&H broking head joins Lockton as head of L&H reinsurance in India

Aon’s Renuka Nar has joined Lockton as head of life and health reinsurance in India.

Nar will report to managing director and head of people solutions Sudip Indani and will lead the life and health reinsurance practice in India.

Chaucer Group deputy class underwriter for political violence, Boaz Appiah, has relocated from London to Singapore. Appiah has been with Chaucer, a China Re company, in London for over four and a half years, having joined from Markel in August 2021.
