InsuranceAsia News wraps up the people moves from the insurance industry in Asia this week.
1. Howden powers up APAC renewables, makes multiple appointments across APAC
Howden Specialty appointed Hugo Thornhill as its head of renewable energy for Asia Pacific, based in Singapore, according to an IAN exclusive.
Thornhill will relocate from Howden Specialty’s London office, where he was most recently divisional director for power and renewable energy.
Howden also completed its Aon M&A raid by appointing Jamie Wan as senior director for Asia.
Wan brings a wealth of specialised experience in M&A insurance, having spent many years navigating the complexities of the regional market.
The broker also tapped Cathryn Neo as head of contingent and litigation risks in Asia.
Neo has joined Singapore to lead its contingent and litigation risks practice across the region and will also oversee all M&A, tax, and contingent claims matters in Asia.

2. Gallagher promotes regional aerospace head to Asia specialty CEO
Gallagher has appointed Adam Sullivan as CEO of its specialty operations in Asia.
Sullivan, who is based in Singapore, will retain his existing responsibilities as APAC CEO of aerospace alongside his new role.

3. VIG Re puts down APAC marker with new Singapore office, appoints MD
European reinsurer VIG Re will establish an office in Singapore, having appointed Marc Haushofer as APAC managing director.
Haushofer will be responsible for VIG Re’s existing business in Japan, South Korea and Taiwan, while also seeking to drive the reinsurer’s pan-Asian expansion.

4. XS Global taps regional property underwriting manager in Asia
Rainmaker Group-owned MGA XS Global has hired Nicholas O’Neil as a regional property underwriting manager as it expands its property platform in Asia.
Hong Kong-based O’Neil brings over 35 years of experience in insurance and reinsurance underwriting and broking across global markets

5. Aon onboards marine claims advocacy head for Asia, grows treaty, commercial risk solutions teams
Aon has appointed Penny Chua as head of marine claims advocacy for Asia.
Chua joins Aon with over 18 years of experience in marine cargo, liabilities, hull and machinery and offshore energy.
Prerna Sharma has returned to Aon as vice president for treaty reinsurance solutions.
Sharma previously started as a management trainee at Aon in 2015 before being promoted to assistant manager.
Ivy Yeoh has taken on an expanded role as Asia Pacific CFO for commercial risk solutions at Aon.
Singapore-based Yeoh retains her position as CFO for Singapore and Indonesia.

6. Liberty APAC elevates duo to surety heads, hires senior underwriter for fine art and specie
Liberty Mutual Surety have promoted Alicia Barnes to surety manager for Australia, and Tian Gu to surety manager for Asia.
Barnes has been a senior underwriter since joining in September 2021, while Gu has been with Liberty since December 2021 as a senior underwriter for surety.
Liberty Specialty Markets has appointed Edrick Tang as senior underwriter for fine art and specie in Asia Pacific.
Tang will oversee underwriting performance for the art and specie product line and lead the execution of the product’s growth strategy across Asia

7. Swiss Re names new senior property treaty underwriter 
Swiss Re has added Wenyi Chew to its property treaty underwriting team in Singapore.
Chew joins after over three years at Aon. Her most recent role was as a director within Aon’s retrocession treaty team in Singapore.
8. 360 Underwriting elevates claims manager to head of claims
AUB-owned specialist MGA, 360 Underwriting Solutions, has promoted Tom Hatton to head of claims.
Sydney-based Hatton joined the company in May 2024 and most recently held the role of claims operations manager.
9. Charles Taylor promotes Bradley Verreyne to national executive adjuster for Australia
Charles Taylor has promoted Bradley Verreyne to the role of national executive adjuster for Australia.
Perth-based Verreyne has been with Charles Taylor since September 2021 as an executive adjuster focusing on major and complex claims for property and business interruption

10. Tata AIG promotes AVP to national head for casualty lines for India
Indian P&C insurer Tata AIG General Insurance has promoted Udit Mahajan to national head for casualty lines for India.
Mumbai-based Mahajan joined the insurer as a corporate office manager for casualty lines in December 2017, before being promoted multiple times until he was named associate vice president, holding the position since December 2024

Vietnam’s Techcom General Insurance (TCGIns) has appointed Pranav Seth as chairman. TCGIns is a general insurance company established by Techcombank, one of the largest joint-stock commercial banks in Vietnam and one of the leading banking institutions in Asia.
Arunkumar Gupta has also joined Howden from Ernst & Young as vice president for mergers and acquisitions within its tax team in India.
