InsuranceAsia News wraps up the people moves from the insurance industry in Asia this week.

1. New Gallagher Re chairman for Southeast Asia, Taiwan and South Korea

Gallagher Re has appointed Richard Jones as chairman for Southeast Asia, Taiwan and South Korea, confirming an exclusive report by InsuranceAsia News in February.

Singapore-based Jones started at the broker this month. He was previously Asia reinsurance CEO for Aon since May 2019.

He had previously been at reinsurance broker Guy Carpenter, where he spent more than three decades, most recently as chairman of Asia Pacific.

2. Aon names new complex property claims advocate for Asia

Global broker Aon has appointed Murali Raj as complex property claims advocate and regional director for Asia. Singapore-based Raj joins from WTW, where he spent more than 13 years in senior claims leadership roles, most recently as divisional director for regional claims in Asia.

3. Swiss Re CorSo head swaps London for Singapore role

Swiss Re Corporate Solutions has chosen Preeti Sawalani as its head of customer and distribution management for Southeast Asia. Sawalani’s appointment would be effective from Monday, September 1, the statement added.

4. Australian broker McLardy McShane unveils new-look executive structure

Australian broker McLardy McShane has announced a new executive structure, with former group COO Meg Long appointed as CEO of its license-holding arm, and Nick McLardy taking over the insurance brokerage arm.

5. Markel eyes Australia marine growth with senior hire

Markel has chosen a former Tokio Marine Kiln executive to drive the growth of its marine business in Australia. Markel said it has appointed Tim Wills as head of marine for Australia, with immediate effect.

6. Aon’s reinsurance solutions promotes new Philippines head

Aon’s reinsurance solutions has appointed a new country head for the Philippines. A statement confirmed Manila-based Jocelyn Po had been handed the role. She reports to Musa Adlan, managing director of Asia and head of Southeast Asia.

7. Willis hires Brian Fung as associate director for greater China M&A

Global broker Willis has appointed Brian Fung as an associate director of mergers and acquisitions for greater China, as part of their M&A practice, according to Asian head of finex, Namit Mahajan. Fung joins from fellow insurance broker Aon, where he spent just under four years, having joined as a transaction solutions associate, before being promoted to senior associate for M&A transaction solutions in April.

8. Howden fills Asia marine leadership role

Howden has appointed veteran maritime professional Hari Subramaniam as chief commercial officer for its marine, cargo and logistics global practice. Singapore-based Subramaniam has more than 35 years of maritime industry experience, spanning seafaring, corporate shipping, offshore operations, and marine insurance.

9. Canopius adds casualty treaty specialist

Canopius Group has  hired a casualty treaty underwriter Jinnan Tang in its Asia-Pacific team in Singapore. Tang joins the Lloyd’s carrier from MS Amlin in Singapore, in a statement on Friday.In his new role, Tang reports to Andrew Parker, Andrew Parker, head of treaty for Australia and New Zealand and head of casualty treaty APAC, and Micia Yong, head of property and specialty treaty APAC.

10. Bridge sepcialty reshuffles Asia leadership

David Ong, a co-founder of Singapore-based Acorn International Network, will step down as CEO and assume the role of chairman at the Bridge Speciality owned company. The appointement follows Abhishek Chhajer joining as chief executive at Acorn International Network and director at Hong Kong-based Bridge-backed Capstone Insurance Brokers.

11. Lockton India appoints senior director to corporate solutions group

Global broker Lockton has appointed Darshan Parikh as senior director to the corporate solutions group in India. Parikh will be responsible for driving growth and expansion within the marine, aviation, and space practices, according to the post.

12. 360 Underwriting hires Australian agencies’ COO

AUB-owned specialist MGA, 360 Underwriting Solutions, has appointed Pegah Vaghaye as chief operating officer for its Australian agencies, the company said in a press release. The appointment strengthens its leadership team as the business continues its rapid expansion across Australia, it said.

Indian insurer say  Zurich Kotak General Insurance has appointed Sukesh Shetty as chief operating officer. Shetty joins the insurer following 15 years at SBI General Insurance, where he held numerous positions before being named the COO in December 2022.
