InsuranceAsia News wraps up the people moves from the insurance industry in Asia this week.
1. Willis Re taps former Gallagher Re leader to lead Asia expansion
Willis Re has announced its Asia foray with the appointment of Richard Jones to lead the reinsurance broker in the region.
The appointment is effective October 2026 and subject to all regulatory approvals, with he will play a pivotal role in the establishment of the company’s presence in the region.

2. Lockton appoints new Malaysia, India heads, reshuffles APAC and Singapore teams
Lockton said that it has appointed Nicholas Lee as CEO of Lockton Sime, its Malaysian broking business, and Jay Sharma as its new CEO in India.
Lee is replacing Mohamed Yahya Ibrahim, who is transitioning to the role of special adviser.
Sharma, meanwhile, replaces Sandeep Dadia, who is shifting to become a non-executive officer of Lockton India.
The broker also added Jamie He to its Asia Pacific transaction liability team as senior vice president.
She was previously a director and senior legal counsel for Asia at the US private equity firm, The Carlyle Group, for more than four years.
Adin Eng was also promoted to head of corporate risks, overseeing P&C businesses in Singapore.
Eng joined Lockton in July as vice president for client management for professional and executive risk.

3. Sedgwick appoints new CEO, COO for Australia
Sedgwick Australia has appointed Simon Kay as CEO and Kimberley Daley as COO.
Interim CEO Phil van Zyl will resume his focus on leading the New Zealand business, the release added.
Sydney-based Kay has been working at Sedgwick since 2018, with Daley also being at the loss adjuster for the last 14 years.

4. Deutsche Rück unites Asia, Middle East and Latin America units into new division, appoints head
German reinsurer Deutsche Rück has consolidated its property and casualty operations in the Middle East, Asia, and Latin America into a new international growth markets division, effective from May 1.
The division will be led by Tarik Aouad, who will be responsible for portfolio management and will focus on disciplined growth and enhanced cross-regional portfolio development

5. AIG strengthens HK, Singapore, Australia teams
AIG has promoted Evelyn Li to casualty corporate lead, and Carmen Ho to casualty major account lead.
Li rejoined the insurer as an underwriting manager for casualty in July 2023.
Ho rejoins the insure having previously spent nearly seven years with AIG between June 2018 and February 2025 as a casualty underwriting manager.
AIG also appointed Igor Chichkan as regional underwriting manager for financial lines in Asia Pacific, based in Singapore.
Chichkan relocates from Dubai for the role and brings more than 14 years’ experience with AIG across Russia and the Middle East.
The insurer also appointed Brannigan Ong as head of reinsurance for accident and health (A&H).
Singapore-based Ong was most recently senior A&H underwriter for Asia at Everest, where he worked for three and a half years.
Marsh veteran Carrisa Chung was appointed as underwriter for commercial property in Australia.
Perth-based Chung has more than 35 years of experience in the insurance industry, both as a broker and an underwriter.

6. Zurich Malaysia names country head for commercial insurance
Zurich Malaysia has appointed Wayne Leow as country head of commercial insurance.
Kuala Lumpur-based Leow joins from Chubb, where he had been holding senior broking roles for nearly eight years.

7. Munich Re Retakaful appoints new CEO 
Munich Re Retakaful has appointed Kevin Rethual as its new chief executive officer.
Kuala Lumpur-based Rethual joined Munich Re Retakaful in 2021 as head of pricing and was promoted to chief commercial officer in 2024.

8. Aon makes changes to teams across APAC
Aon said that Richard Tan has become chief commercial officer for Southeast Asia, Maggie Hsieh as chief commercial officer for North Asia, and Michel Muganza as regional managing director and growth strategy and sales enablement leader for the APAC region.
Tan is based in Singapore and has been with Aon for more than seven and a half years. He was most recently chief commercial officer for Singapore.
Taipei-based Hsieh, meanwhile, has been promoted from her most recent role as an executive director and head of growth and Delivering Aon United. She originally joined Aon in 2017.
Muganza is also based in Singapore and has been director for strategic engagement for Aon Inpoint since September 2022.
The broker strengthened its Thailand operations with three appointments, naming Nicole Oversier as regional director of transaction solutions for Asia, alongside Arisara Leekitratanapisa as manager of its Japanese unit and Yuwaree Saensuk as manager for health solutions.
Oversier joins from Beazley, where she was an M&A underwriter based in Singapore, while Bangkok-based Leekitratanapisa joins from Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Thailand, where he worked for 12 years, most recently as a section manager. Saensuk, meanwhile, joins from financial services firm Ayudhya Capital Services, where she had been an assistant manager since September 2020.
Sudarlin Uzir, who has over three decades of experience in (re)insurance, was appointed as Aon’s head of industry specialties Indonesia.
Aon also tapped Paddy Hills as a regional strategic account manager for Asia, based in Hong Kong. He will be responsible for further developing relations amongst Aon’s strategic accounts in Asia.

9. MS Amlin appoints duo to senior Singapore claims roles
MS Amlin has appointed Joyceline Tay and Hung Wei Ng as senior claims analysts in Singapore.
Asia Pacific head of reinsurance claims, Mary Weston, said building a high-performing claims team in APAC has been a priority for MS Amlin, with Tay and Ng “exactly the kind of experienced, driven professionals we were looking for”.

10. Howden continues hiring spree with Asia M&A director, Philippines chief client officer addition
Howden has continued its hiring spree in transaction liability by adding Cindy Yeo as a director for Asia M&A.
Yeo joins the broker in Singapore from Aon, where she had been a director from April 2025 until last month.
The broker has also tapped Cyndi Villamor as chief client officer for corporate risk services in the Philippines.
Villamor’s appointment marks her return to insurance broking following more than a decade at AIG in the Philippines, where she was head of client and broker engagement.

11. Oneglobal Broking taps claims, advisory director
Oneglobal Broking has appointed Shirlene Fernz as director of claims and advisory.
Singapore-based Fernz brings over 19 years of experience across APAC in managing complex, high-value and multi-jurisdictional (re)insurance claims, with deep expertise across financial lines, cyber, marine (P&I), and P&C, most recently with QBE, holding several claims roles for almost eight years.

12. Swiss Re CorSo names ANZ head of operations
Swiss Re Corporate Solutions (CorSo) has appointed Zoe Pearn as head of operations for Australia and New Zealand.
Pearn has been with Swiss Re CorSo since June 2024, having previously almost spent almost two decades at Chubb.

13. Gallagher Re elevates Beijing team head to head of China agriculture
Gallagher Re has named Jun Liu as head of China agriculture, effective from Friday.
He retains his existing responsibilities as deputy head of Gallagher Re’s Beijing team, a role he has held since December.

14. Suncorp New Zealand hires senior construction, engineering underwriter 
Suncorp New Zealand has tapped Walter David as a senior construction and engineering underwriter.
David has joined the New Zealand arm of the Australian insurer after almost three years at Chubb, where he was most recently a casualty lines underwriter.

15. Axa XL names senior cyber risk consultant in Australia
Axa XL has appointed Kamran Shah as a cyber risk consultant in Australia,
Shah has joined the French insurer’s cyber risk consulting team as a senior cyber risk consultant from Thales, the French aerospace and defence company, where he had been a senior consultant since September 2024.

Sompo has tapped Beatrice Morley as its head reinsurance in London. Morley, who previously was with Aspen in London and Singapore, held the positions of global head of casualty for Aspen Re, head of Asia Pacific, and head of casualty treaty for APAC, and will lead Sompo Re’s underwriting team in London and work closely with its regional leadership teams.
