1. AIG manager set to join Berkley Insurance Asia in Hong Kong
Vivian Chow, regional construction professional indemnity manager at AIG, is set to join Berkley Insurance Asia in Hong Kong, InsuranceAsia News (IAN) understands. It is, though, not immediately clear what position Chow will have with the specialty carrier.

2. Gallagher Re’s Jimmy Tsai to lead Howden Re in Taiwan
Reinsurance broker Howden Re will launch in Taiwan as part of its Asia expansion and has appointed Jimmy Tsai to lead the new office. Tsai will join the broker as managing director in June.

3. Wongi Kim to succeed Andy Ryoo as Allianz Trade’s South Korea country manager
Allianz Trade has appointed Wongi Kim (pictured) as country manager for South Korea, effective from April 1. Kim will succeed Andy Ryoo, who is retiring after 22 years with the company.

4. Steadfast restructures leadership team as COO departs
Steadfast Group has restructured its leadership team after confirming COO Nigel Fitzgerald will step down on July 1 “to pursue a personal business venture”. Founder, managing director, and CEO Robert Kelly confirmed Noelene Palmer has been promoted to COO, effective from July 1, while Tim Mathieson has been promoted to CEO of Australasia broking, effective from May 1.

5. Everest hands out dual PVT, property role
Global insurer Everest has handed Henry Ang the dual role of head of political violence and terrorism for Asia, as well as property underwriting. Singapore-based Ang will drive the expansion and growth of Everest’s regional property portfolio, while leading the APAC political violence and terrorism portfolio, “building it from the ground up in collaboration with the global head of terrorism”.

6. Howden makes moves in India, Hong Kong
Howden has appointed Rajesh Singh to lead its property vertical in India. Mumbai-based Singh would oversee key areas including operational risks, marine, and construction, as well as driving growth and excellence as president and head of property and risk management in India.
Howden has also appointed Iris Lee (pictured) as its divisional director for its Asia marine team, based in Hong Kong. Lee most recently spent just over a year with OneGlobal Broking as marine director in Hong Kong.

7. Allianz Australia appoints 25-year veteran as chief commercial GM
Allianz Australia has appointed Julie Mitchell as its new chief general manager for commercial. Sydney-based Mitchell joins Allianz’s commercial team, having spent 25 years in Allianz’s personal injury division, including the last six years as chief general manager for personal injury.

8. VIG Re hires Asia veteran to strengthen international footprint
Former Validus Re Asia Pacific CEO Marc Haushofer will join European reinsurer VIG Re as executive director of international business development on May 1. Haushofer was most recently senior vice president for Asia Pacific at RenaissanceRe until October last year, joining the reinsurer following its acquisition of Validus Re in 2023.

9. WTW taps new associate director for broking, regional M&A
Global broker WTW has appointed Reuben Lee (pictured) as an associate director for broking and regional M&A in Singapore. Lee joins from M&A insurance specialist MGA Ryan Transactional Risk, where he had moved to as a senior underwriter in October following Ryan’s acquisition of its rival, Transact Risk Partners.

10. Zurich names head of commercial insurance in Hong Kong
Zurich has appointed Dominic Tarquini as head of commercial insurance in Hong Kong, effective from April 1. Tarquini joined Zurich in February 2022 as head of client, distribution and market development for commercial insurance in the city.

Nupur Sharma has been promoted to senior property underwriter and vice president at Swiss Re Corporate Solutions (CorSo).

Cigna Healthcare, International Health has appointed Rob Peat as CEO of Asia Pacific from April 1.
