InsuranceAsia News wraps up the people moves from the insurance industry in Asia this week.
1. Gallagher Re shuffles APAC leadership
Gallagher Re has appointed Roshan Perera as managing director and head of APAC, and Richard Jones as chairman for the region.
Former APAC head Mark O’Brien will be leaving, while Mark Morley, the former chairman of APAC and deputy chairman of international, is scheduled to retire.

2. AIG HK CEO to lead Liberty’s unified Hong Kong unit
Liberty has tapped AIG’s Cynthia Sze as the chief executive for its combined Hong Kong unit.
Sze will start in the new role at Liberty from May, a Liberty spokesperson confirmed to InsuranceAsia News.

3. Steadfast CEO to retire, successor to be in place by August
Steadfast CEO and managing director Robert Kelly has advised the board of his intention to retire from the Australian broker.
His replacement is expected to be in place by the time the FY26 results are released in August, as part of a leadership transition plan, according to a stock exchange update on Monday.
He will seek election as a non-executive director at the next AGM.

4. Everest elevates Asia insurance head to APAC chief executive for global wholesale and specialty
Everest has promoted Tomi Latva-Kiskola to chief executive for global wholesale and specialty in Asia Pacific.
Singapore-based Latva-Kiskola has been with the carrier since 2024, serving as head of insurance for Asia.

5. Marsh appoints ex-Steadfast executive as Pacific COO
Marsh has appointed Noelene Palmer as its new COO for the Pacific region.
She was previously COO at Steadfast Group. However, she left the Australian broker in November after her role was made redundant.

6. Howden appoints Japanese construction initiative leader, Singapore multinational client practice director
Howden has appointed seasoned insurance executive Nobuyuki (Nobu) Akahane as its new head of Japanese construction, coinciding with the launch of its Japanese initiative within the construction and infrastructure assets division.
Akahane (pictured) will be based in Howden’s London office and will support the company’s expanded focus on Japanese‑led construction and infrastructure projects across global markets.
Howden has tapped Cheryl Yi Min Poon as a director within its multinational client practice in Singapore.
She has joined Howden after over a decade at Marsh in Hong Kong, where she was most recently a vice president since April 2021.

7. QBE appoints Chubb’s property head as head of property for Asia 
QBE has appointed Carles Tondo as head of property for Asia, effective immediately.
He will oversee property-related product strategy, pricing, and portfolio management, while ensuring compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements, as well as manage regional performance for designated business lines, working closely with stakeholders across the region to maximise growth and profitability.

8. WTW hands expanded role to health and benefits head as Singapore country head
WTW has named Han Wei Fong as its new country leader for Singapore, effective from Sunday.
He has been with WTW since September, when he joined after almost 11 years at Aon, where he was a senior consultant within its global benefits business

9. Axa XL promotes underwriter to lead Axa XL’s Singapore marine cargo team
Axa XL has promoted Naleena Moore to the position of underwriting manager for marine cargo in Singapore.
Moore has been a marine cargo underwriter at Axa XL in Singapore since December 2015, according to her LinkedIn profile.

10. JB Boda appoints APAC CEO
JB Boda & Co, the overseas arm of Indian reinsurance broker JB Boda Group, has appointed Rajesh Sinha as CEO and managing director of Asia Pacific
Sinha will spearhead the firm’s regional strategy, client engagement, and market expansion across treaty and facultative reinsurance.

11. Zurich Cover‑More boost Asia team with double promotion
Zurich Cover‑More has announced the appointment of Jon Ford as head of Asia and Tricia Lim as head of commercial operations and delivery in the region,
Ford, who is currently head of partnerships for Zurich APAC, will retain his existing role while taking on the additional responsibilities of leading the Asia travel division for Zurich Cover-More.
Lim, meanwhile, will work with Ford to grow Zurich Cover-More’s travel business in the Asia region.

12. Aon appoints executive vice president for transaction risk solutions in India
Mandeep Borah has rejoined Aon as executive vice president for transaction risk solutions in India.
Mumbai-based Borah (pictured) previously spent two years between March 2018 and February 2020 as vice president of M&A at Aon, and joins from Edme Insurance Brokers, where he was the senior vice president for M&A since August 2023.

13. HDI Global names Singapore energy and power business head
HDI Global has named Haris Michaels as the new head of its energy and power business in Singapore, following Mark Mackay’s promotion to a global role.
Michaels, who will be responsible for supporting clients across Southeast Asia, succeeds Mackay, who has been promoted to global head of energy and power. Mackay’s appointment is effective from Sunday.

14. Former IAG NZ CEO takes on new group role in Australia
IAG has handed Amanda Whiting a new group leadership role following her return to Australia from New Zealand.
Whiting has been appointed to the newly created role of group executive, enterprise growth and simplification, according to a statement on Monday. She will sit on IAG’s group leadership team.

15. NorthStandard veteran takes helm as Britannia’s Asia head
P&I club Britannia Group has appointed David Roberts as its new regional head of Asia.
He joins from NorthStandard, where he was head of Asia Pacific. He was with NorthStandard for 34 years and has been in Singapore since 2013, having previously worked in London, Athens and New York.

16. Ansvar Insurance Australia appoints new CEO
Jason Hammond has been appointed CEO of Ansvar Insurance Australia, effective from March 10.
The move comes following the planned retirement of outgoing CEO Warren Hutcheon, who departs after 12 years.

17. Liberty Mutual Reinsurance names ANZ casualty underwriting manager
John Nicholls has joined Liberty Mutual Reinsurance (LM Re) Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) as casualty underwriting manager.
Sydney-based Nicholls joins LM Re from Liberty Speciality Markets’ Sydney team, in an internal move as part of the larger Liberty Mutual Group.

18. Lockton hires Asia aviation head
Lockton has hired Isaac Fuente as its new head of aviation for the Asia region.
Fuente was most recently a senior aviation broker at Howden in Singapore, having relocated from the UK in January 2025.

19. Allied World makes double promotion
Allied World has promoted Ben Schindler to assistant vice president in its property division.
Before his promotion, Sydney-based Schindler was a senior property underwriter.
The firm also promoted Camela Santos to a vice president within its Australia property division.
She was previously an assistant vice president and has been with Allied World in Australia and Singapore since May 2019.

Gallagher Australia has announced the commencement of Alex Lumby as its chief executive officer, confirming an earlier report by InsuranceAsia News.
The Singapore Reinsurers’ Association (SRA) has named James Beedle as its new chairman. Beedle is currently CEO for Asia Pacific at PartnerRe, and was formerly deputy chairman of the SRA.
