Tokio Marine, Gallagher, Markel, AIG: 10 APAC insurance people moves of the week

1. Tokio Marine appoints new CEO, chairman
Masahiro Koike has been nominated to succeed Satoru Komiya as president and CEO of Tokio Marine Holdings and group CEO of Tokio Marine Group. Komiya, who has been the chief executive of the company since June 2019, will move into the role of chairman of the board of Tokio Marine Holdings, while current chairman Tsuyoshi Nagano will resign.

2. Gallagher India names new CEO
Global broker Gallagher has promoted Ajit Horra to chief executive officer and principal officer of its broking business in India, subject to regulatory approval. Horra replaces Sneha Gokarn, who is leaving the business.

3. Markel promotes head of Singapore, hires Chubb veteran
Specialty (re)insurer Markel has promoted Wanshi Lin (pictured) to the newly created role of head of Singapore, effective immediately. Lin joined Markel in 2018 as an assistant marine underwriter, and since 2023 has been senior underwriter.
Markel International has also appointed Scott Jordan as casualty claims manager for Markel Australia. A Chubb veteran for over 12 years, Sydney-based Jordan was team leader for casualty claims prior to the move.

4. Miller makes Korea foray
Specialist (re)insurance broker Miller has expanded operations into South Korea and appointed David Kim as head of Korea. Kim, who has been appointed as the broker’s country CEO, has served in a range of leadership positions across the insurance sector over the past 25 years, including as CEO of Marsh Korea.

5. AIG names new Indonesia CEO, adds newly-created role
Fery Hakim has been appointed as the CEO and president director for AIG in Indonesia. Hakim has spent almost 11 years at Chubb, most recently as head of broker, bancassurance and multi-finance.
AIG has also appointed Gany Subramaniam (pictured) to a newly-created role of head of agency and partnership distribution for Asia Pacific. Kuala Lumpur-based Subramaniam previously spent 16 years with AIG until March 2019, having last held the role of senior vice president for personal insurance for South-East Asia.

6. Aon boosts natural resources, M&A and transaction solutions teams
Global broker Aon has named Josh Hardwick as regional director for its natural resources team. Hardwick, who has relocated to Singapore from Melbourne, joins the broker from his tenure at consultancy Risk Advisory Service.
Aon also announced multiple changes to its Singapore-based Asia M&A and transaction solutions team. Xianwei Lee has been promoted to head of Aon Mergers & Acquisitions & Transaction Solutions (AMATS) for Asia. Adrian Chai will assume Lee’s role as head of transaction solutions for AMATS in Asia, while Jamie Wan will take on the role of head of transaction advisory services for AMATS in Asia. Blossom Lim, meanwhile, has been elevated to the role of growth leader for AMATS Asia.

7. Marsh Asia rejigs renewable energy team
Marsh Asia has promoted Martin Beck and Robert Jones within their renewable energy team. Beck has been elevated to energy transition leader, while Jones takes up the new role of renewable energy leader.

8. MGA Hydor appoints senior marine underwriter
Specialist marine managing general agent (MGA) Hydor has appointed Markel’s Colin Fordham (pictured) as senior marine underwriter in Singapore. Before joining Hydor, Fordham was Markel’s senior underwriter and director of marine for Asia for almost eight years.

9. Australian regulator appoints new CEO
Australia’s corporate regulator has appointed Scott Gregson as its new chief executive officer. Gregson will join the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) on March 17, 2025, following a nearly 30-year career with the Australian competition watchdog, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC).

10. Crawford strengthens Malaysia team
Global loss adjuster Crawford has appointed Tony Kan as director for large and complex loss in Malaysia. Kan has over 30 years of experience in the Malaysian market and an extensive background in managing large and complex claims.

Global broker WTW has appointed Jack Reuter Town as a strategic client leader for its large accounts practice for Asia in Singapore, while Lloyd’s carrier Newline Group has named Andy Ang as senior underwriter, based in Kuala Lumpur. Meanwhile, Coface has appointed Niki Liu as its head of commercial for Taiwan, while the trade credit insurer has elevated Sandra Ciuriloviciute to senior account manager and Renee Dobson to head of account management of its Australian commercial team.
