Welcome to the InsuranceAsia News Awards for Excellence 2023 supplement, where we recognise the leading companies and people in the industry and celebrate their pioneering efforts, innovation and commitment.
The Awards for Excellence is in its sixth year, and we are delighted to see more and more participation from across the industry and around the region.
This year’s awards are our biggest yet with a record number of entries and a higher calibre of submissions. Given how competitive each of the categories were, it was not an easy task for our distinguished panel of judges to choose the winners.
It is no surprise, given that 2023 has been a year of generational shifts for the (re)insurance industry.
It started with a once-in-a-generation hard market that reset the rules of the game, forcing a much-needed introspection for the industry, which has indeed yielded strong results and important lessons.
But perhaps, the most transformative of changes was the mainstreaming of artificial intelligence (AI) and notably, generative AI. The insurance industry is in the thick of the AI revolution, which will potentially reshape every aspect of the business from customer service to underwriting and claims management.
While climate change and cat losses continue to challenge (re)insurers, there are also emerging risks from the wars, social unrests and increased cyber threats. These risks are more interconnected than before. Insurers have had to continually reinvent their models, approaches and products to react to these risks.
InsuranceAsia News Awards for Excellence is our way of recognising and appreciating the efforts of the industry that go into facing and mitigating these risks as well as helping build resilience, drive adaptation, and facilitate rebuilding and recovery.
