QBE, Steadfast, Aon, Zurich: 8 APAC insurance people moves of the week

InsuranceAsia News wraps up the people moves from the insurance industry in Asia this week.
1. QBE taps new South Asia CEO, CFO resigns
In two senior appointments to its Asia executive team, QBE has named Stephen Geisler as chief executive for South Asia and Ross Bethell as head of partnerships for its Asia business.
The roles will be based in Singapore and report to Rob Kosova, CEO of QBE Asia.
Geisler will assume the new role from September 23, succeeding Ronak Shah, who is currently serving as CEO of QBE Singapore, and, more recently, appointed as CEO of wholesale markets Asia.
Meanwhile, QBE Insurance Group chief financial officer Inder Singh has tendered his resignation. Singh will remain with QBE while the company undertakes a search for a new chief financial officer, ensuring a smooth transition, the company said. National Australia Bank (NAB) announced the appointment of Singh as its group chief financial officer and group executive for strategy, effective from March.

2. Steadfast taps new head of broker network
Australian broking group Steadfast has appointed Stella Pruscino as head of broker network. Pruscino, who is based in Melbourne, has joined the Australian broker this month from Edgewise Insurance Brokers, where she was an account director for the last eight years.
Steadfast also said that long-serving chair Frank O’Halloran would retire following the company’s annual general meeting in October.

3. Aon promotes new chief commercial officer, appoints regional MD
Aon has promoted Richard Tan (pictured) to become its chief commercial officer for Singapore. Tan said that he has been elevated to become Aon’s chief commercial officer in the Southeast Asian city-state.
Aon also appointed Mike Baker as regional managing director for Asia. Singapore-based Baker returns to the broker from Howden, where he had been chief client officer for Asia since January 2024.

4. Aon Re names new client manager in Malaysia
Lin Mun Lee has rejoined Aon reinsurance solutions as a director responsible for client management in Malaysia. Lee previously spent almost a decade with Aon reinsurance Malaysia, having first joined the broker in 2012. She was a treaty broker, serving clients in Malaysia and Brunei.

5. Zurich Malaysia promotes chief pricing actuary
Zurich Malaysia has promoted Yuan Feng Hoo to chief pricing actuary and head of technical excellence. Malaysia-based Hoo will be responsible for leading pricing strategy for profitable growth, providing excellent decision-making, risk assessment, performance management, and customer experience as well as driving the use of advanced analytics and AI to improve pricing, insights, and efficiency, the post said.

6. Howden Re hires new APAC director of fac reinsurance
Howden Re has named Jonathan Yang as its new Asia Pacific director for facultative reinsurance. Singapore-based Yang joins from Marsh Singapore, having held the role of senior vice president since April 2021.

7. Kiwi MGA Delta Insurance promotes property team lead
Kiwi MGA Delta Insurance Group has promoted Krisann Pereira (pictured) to the role of Auckland and the rest of New Zealand team lead for property. Auckland-based Pereira, who joined Delta in 2024 from Vero Insurance, “has consistently shown dedication, drive, and a strong commitment to our values.”

8. SRG hires fac specialist as APAC head of reinsurance
London-based broker, the Specialist Risk Group (SRG), has appointed John Jackson as its new head of reinsurance for Asia Pacific. Singapore-based Jackson joins SRG following over 11 years as a director for Marnix Insurance Brokers.

Envest Group, the Australian arm of The Ardonagh Group, has announced the retirement of four long-serving senior executives.
In a statement, Envest said that “long-serving and highly respected leaders” Tony Walker, Barry Fitzpatrick, Rob Ellis and Adrian Kitchin are retiring and leaving the company.
