1. Munich Re ships Sompo veteran as marine underwriter in Japan
Munich Re confirmed the appointment of Sompo veteran Koki Shiomi as a marine underwriter in Japan in an IAN exclusive.
Shiomi will start at the global reinsurer from April 1 and will report to Justin Xu, regional head of marine Asia Pacific.

2. MS&AD elevates chief executive to chief strategy officer for international business
MSIG Asia chief executive Clemens Philippi has been appointed chief strategy officer of MS&AD Insurance Group’s international business and an executive officer of the group, effective April 1.
Meanwhile, MSIG Asia’s executive officer and head of planning, Norihiro Tanaka, will become chairman of MSIG Asia.

3. Aon appoints ex-APAC CEO to lead North America, hires senior vice president for corporate for Malaysia
Aon has appointed former Asia Pacific chief executive Anne Corona as North America CEO taking over from Lori Goltermann, effective immediately.
With more than 25-year career with the broker, Corona was the head of the broking and consulting group’s APAC operations as Asia Pacific CEO from July 2021 based in Singapore, before her promotion as CEO of enterprise clients and global chief commercial officer.
Aon Malaysia has appointed Janice Wong as senior vice president for corporate.
Wong was most recently head of broking at Generali Malaysia, where she worked for over 25 years,

4. Steadfast appoints lead for newly formed Miramar Group
Stephen Ward has been appointed as CEO of the newly rebranded Miramar Group, the Steadfast-backed group of Australian underwriting agencies.
Set to launch on April 1, Miramar Group will bring together Interruption Underwriting Agencies, PI Direct, Pint Underwriting, Platinum Placement Solutions, Procover, Quanta, and Miramar into one consolidated entity.

5. Lockton taps new China CEO, expands APAC transaction liability practice with senior hire
Lockton has appointed Livy Dai as its new China CEO.
Dai will be based in Shanghai and will report to Alex Yip, CEO of Lockton greater China. The appointment is subject to regulatory approval.
The broker also appointed Robert Whitworth as senior vice president for its Asia Pacific transaction liability practice.
Singapore-based Whitworth has over a decade of experience advising institutional investors and private equity sponsors on complex, cross-border M&A and private equity transactions totalling over USD $15 billion.

6. Gallagher strengthens India liability, claims teams with four senior hires
Gallagher India has made four new appointments in its claims and liability teams.
Mayank Sharma has been appointed national head for liability in India, while Sunny Goel has taken on the role of strategic business leader for liability and renewable energy.
Jyoti Krishnan has been named chief legal officer and national head for liability and specialty claims, whereas Nadeem Mokashi has been appointed as head of property and casualty claims P&C.

7. Price Forbes Re names chief commercial officer for Asia and head of MGA
Price Forbes Re has brought in Bruce Ford from Miller as chief commercial officer for Asia and head of MGA in Singapore.

8. Coface taps AIG head as commercial director for Singapore 
Trade credit insurer Coface has appointed Priscilla Ng as commercial director for Singapore,
She joins the French insurer from AIG, where she was head of sales for APAC Trade Credit.

9. Generali appoints new Asia deputy regional officer
Generali has named Sun Lei as deputy regional officer for Asia, effective immediately.

10. Marsh hires new president and CEO of Marsh Risk
Marsh has appointed Nick Studer as president and CEO of Marsh Risk, succeeding Martin South, who will take on an enterprise-wide role as chief client officer.
Both executives will continue to serve on the company’s executive committee and report to John Doyle, president and CEO of Marsh. The changes take effect on April 1.

Global commercial insurer Starr has appointed Vivian Xiao Wei as head of financial lines for China.

12. Willis’ Asia broking operations head takes up new role in Dubai
Willis’ Asia head of broking operations, Kelsie Makepeace, has relocated to the Middle East to lead placement strategy execution within the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC)
Makepeace moved from Hong Kong to Dubai this month to take on the new role, which covers the Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East, and Africa (CEEMEA) region.

13. HDFC Ergo promotes executive director to MD and CEO
HDFC Ergo General Insurance has promoted Parthanil Ghosh to managing director and chief executive officer.
He has been with HDFC Ergo for eight years across two stints, and has been an executive director with the general insurer since May 2025.

14. QBE strengthens New Zealand corporate team
Joanna Balmer will join QBE Insurance New Zealand’s corporate team in May.
Balmer, who is currently based in Wellington, joins QBE from WTW, where she was an account manager within its financial executive and professional risks team.

15. West P&I strengthens Korean presence with representative hire
West P&I has appointed S. R. Kim, as the club’s exclusive representative in Korea.
The firm has strengthened its presence in Asia through a new exclusive consultancy services agreement with Seoul‑based WIK Marine Consultant, of which Kim is the director.
