InsuranceAsia News wraps up the people moves from the insurance industry in Asia this week.
1. Lockton Asia names new CEO
Lockton Asia has appointed Tony Hardy as Asia CEO, succeeding Warren Meritt, who is stepping down. Merritt will return to his native Australia, where he will continue to work closely with a number of key clients. Hardy will be relocating to Singapore from London and will report directly to Chris Brown, CEO of Lockton International.

2. Liberty International Insurance reshuffles APAC team
Liberty International Insurance has made three senior promotions within its Asia Pacific executive team. The carrier has promoted Michael Abdallah to chief underwriting officer for the region, elevated John McCabe to president of Australia and handed Vanessa Maher the new role of regional chief operating officer of Asia Pacific.
Also, Liberty Specialty Markets has appointed Dipam Pandit as its head of broker distribution in Asia, adding to his existing portfolio as head of war and terrorism for Asia Pacific. Singapore-based Pandit has been with the (re)insurer since June 2019.

3. Hannover Re promotes new Malaysia CEO
Hannover Re has appointed James Ng (pictured) as CEO of its Malaysian branch. Ng has been with global reinsurer since January 2024, when he joined as general manager, head of property and casualty in Kuala Lumpur.

4. Allianz Commercial taps new regional financial lines, cyber lead
Allianz Commercial has appointed Josephine Tam as its regional head of financial lines and cyber in Asia. Singapore-based Tam will report directly to Christian Sandric, regional managing director for Asia, with a matrix reporting line to Jarrod Schlesinger, global head of financial lines & Cyber.

5. WTW expands CRB business in Japan
Willis, WTW’s broking business, has appointed Kohsuke Komorizono (pictured) as head of risk and analytics for corporate risk and broking (CRB) Japan. Tokyo-based Komorizono will drive the delivery of Willis’ integrated risk and insurance analytics solutions and services to Japanese clients across industries.

6. MS Amlin launches credit, political risk offering in Dubai
MS Amlin is launching a new credit and political risk offering in Dubai to expand its offering in the region and also service the “emerging growth hotspots” of India and Africa. The Lloyd’s (re)insurer has appointed Osama Elshiekh as senior underwriter for credit and political risk, reporting to Vipul Gupta, senior executive officer for MS Amlin MENA.

7. Howden India appoints new reinsurance chair
Global broker Howden has brought on board Nagarajan Girishankar as chair for its reinsurance team in India. Mumbai-based Girishankar has over 40 years of experience in the insurance broking industry across diverse business lines and sectors, including property, marine, oil and gas energy, port package, casualty, financial lines, motor and consumer products, credit, cyber and retail products.
Howden Insurance Brokers Australia, meanwhile, has appointed Gemma Claase (pictured) as head of energy transition for the Pacific region. Brisbane-based Claase was previously the deputy global renewable energy leader and Pacific renewable energy leader at Marsh for the last three years.

8. Tokio Marine Kiln takes new APAC head of political violence
Lloyd’s (re)insurer Tokio Marine Kiln (TMK) has appointed Jack Skinner as head of political violence and terrorism for Asia Pacific.
In his new role, Skinner will focus on further expanding TMK’s presence in key markets across APAC and accelerating the team’s growth, alongside Grace Li as political violence and terrorism underwriter, according to a press release.

Australian MGA Market Lane Insurance Group has made changes to the property team within its specialty commercial insurance underwriting arm, The Barn, promoting Joanna Hayes to team manager and Anand Narayanan to underwriting manager.
Gallagher-owned specialist MGA Pen Underwriting, meanwhile, has elevated Nick Best to head of distribution, where he will manage and oversee the company’s strategic partnerships.
And Global broker Marsh has appointed Dean Mumm as its Pacific sales leader. Mumm had joined Marsh in 2017 and was most recently head of corporate sport.
