1. Lloyd’s promotes Asia leader to APMEA CEO
Lloyd’s has promoted Asia CEO Emma Loynes to CEO of Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa (APMEA).
Singapore-based Loynes (pictured) succeeds Chris Mackinnon, who will leave for Munich Re Specialty in April.
Loynes, who has over 30 years of insurance experience, has been working at Lloyd’s for nearly eight years.

2. Allianz Commercial taps AIG’s for financial lines head role for Southeast Asia
Allianz Commercial has appointed Anish Chandran as head of financial lines for Southeast Asia, effective from Monday, according to a press release.
With around 10 years’ experience in the general insurance industry, Chandran joins from AIG Asia Pacific, where he rose through the ranks of the financial lines department.

3. Aon appoints MD and associate director for transaction solutions in Asia-Pacific
Martijn de Lange has rejoined Aon as managing director for transaction solutions in Asia Pacific.
Hong Kong-based De Lange joins from BMS Group, where he was a managing director since October 2020.
The firm also appointed Jane Hon as an associate director for transaction solutions in Asia.
Singapore-based Hon will focus on core M&A insurance product lines of warranty and indemnity, tax liability, contingent risk and litigation.

4. Lockton hires Aon veteran as Pacific region chief client officer
Lockton has appointed David Gower as chief client officer for the Pacific region.
Adelaide-based Gower has previously been at Aon for 46 years, most recently as South Australia director for global and corporate operations, providing strategic advice to clients, current and prospective, and managing complex insurance programs.

5. Markel names first-ever head of South Korea and Japan
Markel International has hired John Bang as its first-ever head of South Korea and Japan.
In the newly created role, Bang will be responsible for launching Markel’s operations in “important growth markets” of Japan and South Korea, strengthening its relationships with local clients, and developing its wholesale business.

6. Howden makes appointments for M&A, fac reinsurance
Howden has promoted Eva Li to general manager for facultative reinsurance in China.
Shanghai-based Li had been with Howden since March 2021 as the representative for the China market, managing the reinsurance portfolio in the country.
The broker also appointed Natalie Worthington as a senior associate for tax and M&A in Asia.
Singapore-based Worthington joins following eight months at Aon, where she was a senior associate for tax liability for transaction solutions in Asia.

7. Price Forbes elevates marine head to marine, credit and political risk executive director 
Price Forbes has appointed Alex Gray as its executive director for marine, credit, and political risk.
Singapore-based Grey has been head of marine since joining the broker in November 2024.

8. Malaysia’s Lonpac Insurance appoints head of marine
Lonpac Insurance has appointed Jacqueline Chan as head of marine.
Chan began her career as a broking manager for Great Eastern in June 2015, holding the position until her switch to QBE as head of marine in October 2020.
9. Zurich hires head of travel for ANZ
Zurich Insurance has tapped Blain Waterford as its new head of travel for Australia and New Zealand.
Waterford will be based in Sydney and join Zurich’s Australia and New Zealand leadership team, and joins from AIG in Singapore.

10. Experienced insurance executive named CEO of Australian insurance brokers Cowden
Experienced insurance industry executive Veronica Grigg will take over as CEO of Australian-owned insurance brokers Cowden from March 1.
Grigg had been replaced by Stephen Kerr as Asia CEO of loss adjuster Sedgwick in November 2024, and also previously worked for Argo Group, QBE, Willis, and KPMG.

11. Axa XL appoint head of strategy and chief of staff for APAC and Europe
Xiao Chen has returned from maternity leave to take up the new role of head of strategy and chief of staff at Axa XL for APAC and Europe.
She was most recently chief of staff for Asia, based in Shanghai, and will return to Paris for the new role.

12. Market Lane appoints property underwriter for Barn Underwriting Agency
Market Lane has appointed Grace Best as property underwriter for its Barn Underwriting Agency division in Australia.
Brisbane-based Best brings over 14 years of experience across property underwriting and claims, and joins from HDI Global.

Sydney-based Hayden Shepard has joined Australia’s 360 Underwriting Solutions as deputy CFO. He will take over the finance leadership of an established and growing finance team and will look to drive process change and efficiency, adding value in support of stakeholders and decision-making.
Global loss adjuster Sedgwick has welcomed Chad Cillie to its marine team in Perth as a marine surveyor. Cillie brings a wealth of experience to the team in the areas of hull and machinery, most recently as marine surveyor at Charles Taylor.
