InsuranceAsia News wraps up the people moves from the insurance industry in Asia this week.
1. Chubb promotes new senior vice president, Asia Pacific
Chubb has promoted Doug White to senior vice president for Asia Pacific. White will focus on strategic projects, provide mentorship to the P&C team, and contribute to the carrier’s country boards across the region.
Hong Kong-based White has been the carrier’s head of major accounts in Asia Pacific since October 2018. He first joined the carrier in 2014 as a country president for Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Macau.

2. Canopius boosts APAC casualty, financial lines teams
In two senior appointments in Asia Pacific, Canopius has promoted Brodie English to head of casualty for Australia and New Zealand, and Rob Barnum to head of financial lines for APAC, according to a company press release. Both appointments are effective from June 1.

3. Specialty MGA Rokstone drops anchor in Singapore, names APAC lead
Specialty MGA Rokstone Underwriting is establishing a hub in Singapore and has appointed QBE’s Rama Chandran (pictured) to lead its operations in Asia Pacific. Chandran will join following the completion of his notice period at QBE International, where he currently serves as head of marine for Asia.

4. QBE appoints interim head of marine for Asia
QBE has appointed Sebastian Tjornelund as interim head of marine for Asia in addition to his current position of regional head of P&I for British Marine, effective from June 16. Singapore-based Tjornelund brings a wealth of industry experience and leadership expertise to this expanded role. Tjornelund succeeds Rama Chandran, who will join Rokstone Underwriting to lead its operations in Asia Pacific.

5. Swiss Re CorSo promotes Asia head of claims
Swiss Re Corporate Solutions has promoted Cyrus Pang (pictured) to head of claims for Asia. Hong Kong-based Pang has been with Swiss Re CorSo since May 2021, having joined as global head of international programs and customer experience claims. He will retain the position under his new dual role, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Swiss Re CorSo has also appointed Aimee Curtain as head of property and specialty for Australia and New Zealand, effective from August 1. Curtain , who has more than 20 years’ of experience spanning broking and underwriting, will take over from outgoing head Luke Griggs, who has had the role for over eight years.

6. Chubb veteran joins Everest Insurance to ‘kick off’ risk engineering practice
Industry veteran Bilal Chohan has joined Everest Insurance as a senior property and mining risk engineer, following a decade-long tenure at Chubb Insurance Australia. Sydney-based Chohan will spearhead the establishment of Everest’s local risk engineering function, focusing on property, energy, and construction portfolios covering local and international markets.

7. Howden Specialty adds to APAC power, renewables team
Howden Specialty Asia Pacific has appointed HuiLeng Tan as an executive director on its power and renewables team in Singapore. Tan joins from Marsh, where she had been a senior vice president for just over 10 and a half years.

8. AIG appoints new ANZ head of operations
AIG has appointed Celina Ennis (pictured) as head of operations for Australia and New Zealand. Sydney-based Ennis was previously the national manager of quality assurance with Allianz since July 2021.

9. Lockton taps Aon’s Darryl Lee as head of professional, executive risk
Global broker Lockton has appointed Darryl Lee as head of professional and executive risk in Singapore. Prior to joining Lockton, Lee spent almost eight years at Aon, most recently as associate director for financial services and professions group/sales and marketing.

10. WTW appoints cyber leader in India
WTW India has appointed Amarpal Singh as north and cyber leader within the financial and executive risks (finex) division at Willis. With over two decades of experience in underwriting and broking, Delhi-based Singh specialises in financial lines and cyber risks, as well as structuring complex risk solutions.

11. New Zealand’s Mecon Insurance taps new head of construction
New Zealand’s Mecon Insurance, part of the Underwriting Agencies of Australia Group, has appointed Clifford Scott as its head of construction. New Zealand-based Scott, who took up the role officially last week, brings a wealth of experience, having built a distinguished career starting as a civil engineer in New Zealand before moving into technical underwriting, insurance, and business leadership.
