1. BHSI names new Asia and Middle East regional president
Berkshire Hathaway Speciality Insurance (BHSI) has appointed Marcus Portbury as regional president for Asia and the Middle East, replacing Marc Breuil, who is retiring after more than 11 years with the US insurer.
Portbury has been with BHSI since 2014 and has over three decades of experience in the insurance industry, including 20 years in senior leadership roles in Asia.

2. Howden makes double financial lines change
Howden has appointed Franky Mok as senior director for financial lines in Hong Kong, continuing its regional push to expand in the specialty segment.
Mok joins from Marsh, where he spent 18 years within the financial and professional lines team, most recently serving as head of the firm’s finpro practice in Hong Kong.
The broker has also tapped Jennifer Tiang as its Asia practice lead for financial lines in Singapore.
She joins Howden after more than four years at Willis, where she was regional head of its cyber practice in Asia.

3. Lockton appoints as head of major corporate accounts practice
Lockton has appointed Alex Tilden as the head of its major corporate accounts practice.
Sydney-based Tilden was most recently Aon’s APAC strategic account director, based in Australia since September 2024.

4. Starr taps new Singapore head of financial lines
Danielle An has joined Starr as its new Singapore head of financial lines and head of its Asia wholesale business.
She was formerly with Allianz Commercial for more than 15 years in various financial lines roles across Asia.

5. Marsh names head of Insurance Consulting Group for Pacific region
Marsh has appointed Tim Atkins as head of its Insurance Consulting Group (ICG) for the Pacific region.
Atkins has worked at Marsh McLennan Agency for over 24 years.

6. Ex-Liberty Thailand chief joins Ergo as CUO
Ergo Insurance Thailand has appointed Waleerat Asavavongsatien as chief underwriting officer, effective from Monday.
Asavavongsatien will be responsible for leading the Munich Re-owned direct insurer’s underwriting strategy, strengthening risk governance, and driving sustainable, profitable growth across the portfolio.

7. Aon appoints Asia transaction solutions director, hands additional role to chief strategy officer
Aon has appointed Markus Poh as director of transaction solutions for Asia.
Singapore-based Poh brings a decade of experience to Aon, with expertise advising private equity sponsors, institutional investors, and multinational corporates on complex cross‑border M&A, private equity, and venture capital transactions across the Asia‑Pacific region.
Aon reinsurance solutions has appointed George Attard as global head of analytics, in addition to his role as chief strategy officer.
In his expanded role, Attard will accelerate the development and utilisation of Aon’s reinsurance analytics capabilities to help insurers navigate volatility, optimise capital and make better decisions through the market cycle to drive performance.

8. Beazley elevates underwriter to M&A product leader for Asia
Global specialty insurer Beazley has appointed Aizad Khair as M&A product leader for Asia,
Prior to joining the insurance business, Khair had nearly a decade of legal practice focused on M&A, corporate finance, and equity capital markets, advising on sophisticated cross-border transactions and guiding clients through intricate regulatory and execution challenges, according to his LinkedIn profile.

9. Markel appoints business development, distribution lead for India
Markel Insurance has appointed Ravi Jain as business development and distribution lead for India, with immediate effect.
Jain will partner closely with brokers and other distribution stakeholders to uncover new commercial opportunities and expand Markel’s presence and footprint across India, the specialty (re)insurer said in a press release.

10. QBE hires Zurich’s chief agency officer as head of distribution in Malaysia
QBE has appointed Chai Guan Lim as head of distribution in Malaysia.
Kuala Lumpur-based Lim was most recently chief agency officer at Zurich Malaysia, where he worked for almost eight years.

11. Swiss Re CorSo appoints as ANZ customer, distribution manager
Robert Kell has rejoined Swiss Re Corporate Solutions (CorSo) as a customer and distribution manager for Australia and New Zealand.
Kell previously spent three years as a data scientist and assistant vice president at Swiss Re CorSo from November 2021 until January last year.

12. ‘Accomplished leader’ joins Raheja QBE as chief claims officer
Raheja QBE General Insurance Company has appointed Shambhavi Amin as its new chief claims officer, according to a statement.
Mumbai-based Amin (pictured) joins after more than 25 years at Reliance General Insurance, where she was most recently a senior vice president.

13. Market Lane taps New Zealand MD
Market Lane Insurance Group has announced the appointment of Jo Mason as managing director of its New Zealand business, effective from April 28.
Mason was most recently a director at McDonald Everest Insurance Brokers for just under a year and a half, having previously served as CEO of NZbrokers for just under 10 years.

14. Swiss Re confirms veteran to return to APAC as L&H business head
Swiss Re has confirmed Tamas Bown will return to the Asia-Pacific region, excluding China, in April to lead its life and health business from April 1, subject to regulatory approvals.
Bown has been with Swiss Re for over 22 years, including heading the L&H client markets in Japan for just over three years from September 2013 until September 2016, based in Tokyo.

15. CFC hires national manager for new tech, media push in Australia
London-headquartered MGA CFC has appointed Stella Gilson as national manager for technology and media in Australia as part of its effort to expand its offering.
Gilson returns to Sydney from CFC London, where she has served as media and technology underwriter for the past 12 years.

16. Chubb promotes senior figure to regional head of strategic partnership development
Chubb has elevated Richard Bracken to head of strategic partnership development for Asia Pacific, Japan and international digital.
He has been with Chubb since November 2022, and will be responsible for “driving new digital insurance propositions, finding new synergies, optimising our key partnerships and establishing new ones.”

Liberty has confirmed the appointment of Cynthia Sze as CEO of its combined Hong Kong unit, effective from May, subject to regulatory approval, in line with an earlier report from InsuranceAsia News.
Sompo has appointed See Ju Chua as CFO of its Singapore operations, effective from Sunday. Chua, who has been with Sompo for more than a decade, was most recently head of capital management for APAC.
