Aon, Everest, Willis, Howden, Chubb: 8 APAC insurance people moves of the week

InsuranceAsia News wraps up the people moves from the insurance industry in Asia this week.

1. Aon makes regional, national moves

Aon has chosen a veteran Tata AIG executive Sushant Sarin as its new head of strategy and commercial risk solutions in India, effective immediately.

Mumbai-based Sarin reports to Rishi Mehra, CEO of Aon India, and has joined Aon’s India leadership team.

Global broker Aon has also appointed Mandy Phan as head of production for Asia. 

Singapore-based Phan has more than a decade of experience spanning treaty underwriting, reinsurance broking, personal lines, trade credit, surety and bond, financial lines and casualty, as well as structured solutions and business development.

And Sean Green has joined Aon in New Zealand as general manager for placement. Green was previously a manager in Gallagher’s corporate team in Melbourne from November 2023 before leaving in July to take up his new role.

2. Everest promotes Asia head of property

Everest has promoted James McPartland to its head of property for Asia. Melbourne-based McPartland joined Everest from Chubb in January 2024 as a senior property underwriter. He had spent over six and a half years at Chubb as regional head for international excess, based in Singapore.

3. Willis hires new executive to drive trade credit growth in Asia

Willis has chosen a senior executive to drive the growth of its trade credit insurance business in Asia Pacific. Seckin Atilgan (pictured) has been appointed as head of growth for trade credit in Asia, a role which sits within Willis’ credit risk solutions business.

4. Howden makes Hong Kong, Singapore moves

Howden has appointed Marsh’s construction specialist Raymond Law as sales director in Hong Kong. Law was previously with Marsh McLennan for eight years and six months from March 2017, most recently serving as vice president, head of Hong Kong strategy construction practice for nearly three years.

Howden Specialty Asia Pacific has also promoted Matthew Savitt to the role of managing director and head of natural resources. Singapore-based Savitt was most recently head of natural resources for Asia Pacific, having joined from Alesco Risk Management Services in November 2020.

5. Chubb promotes new head of claims for ANZ

Global insurer Chubb has appointed Matthew Dick as head of claims for Australia and New Zealand, based in Sydney. Since joining Chubb in 2007, Dick has held a range of specialty claims leadership roles in the UK and APAC.

6. Australian MGA IIS expands business to New Zealand, names head of operations

Australian MGA Insurance Investment Solutions (IIS) has expanded its footprint into New Zealand, appointing Gert Stander (pictured) as its head of operations. IIS is a specialist underwriting agency founded in 2015, offering strata, commercial, and community property insurance through brokers.

7. India’s Equirus Raghnall appoints national head for risk engineering

Indian insurance broker and risk adviser Equirus Raghnall has appointed Aman Gaur as its national head for risk engineering. Mumbai-based Gaur joins having spent the last 11 months as a consultant engineer within the Asia-Pacific division at FM.

8. HDI expands Hong Kong engineering team with double appointment

Insurer HDI Global has appointed Steven Tang as engineering underwriting manager for North Asia and Chris Yang as senior engineering underwriter for North Asia. The Hong Kong-based duo join from fellow global reinsurer Scor, where they worked in the Asia-Pacific construction team.
