1. AIG promotes head of multinational for Japan

AIG has appointed Naoko Masu as its new head of multinational for Japan.

Tokyo-based Masu has been with AIG for over 23 years, holding the position of head of credit lines for Japan since September 2002.

“Her appointment is testimony to her talent and expertise, as well as our commitment to understand our clients’ needs and grow the business as we continue to deliver on our multinational strategic priorities in Japan,” multinational CEO William Rabl said.

2. Howden strengthens Pacific cyber offering with Lockton hire

Howden Insurance Brokers Australia has appointed Jack Bassett to its cyber practice in the Pacific region. As a senior associate, Bassett will focus on strengthening Howden’s cyber offering and delivering innovative solutions for clients.

3. Axa XL appoints principal officer for Malaysia

Axa XL has appointed Ramesh Sivanathan (pictured) as its principal officer for Malaysia, alongside his current role as business lead. Labuan-based Sivanathan has been holding the role of business lead for Malaysia since July 2023.

4. Sompo Japan makes commercial business, financial lines moves

Sompo Japan has expanded its commercial business team with the hires of Heiko Thienenkamp and Hiroki Ohashi, both based in Tokyo.  With immediate effect, Thienenkamp takes on the role of COO for commercial business, while Hiroki Ohashi has been appointed as head of financial lines.

5. Tokio Marine Kiln adds to APAC special risks team

Tokio Marine Kiln (TMK) has added Phoebe Liew as a specialist credit and political risk underwriter to its team in Singapore. TMK said that it has appointed Liew as a special risks underwriter, focused on credit and political risk.

6. Canopius expands energy team in Singapore

Canopius has expanded its energy team in the Asia Pacific with the appointment of a new underwriter. Canopius said that it had hired Ray Wong (pictured) as an energy underwriter, effective from September 4.

7. BHSI promotes national manager for corporate property

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) Australia has promoted Michael Hannigan to the role of national manager for corporate property.  Melbourne-based Hannigan previously held the position of underwriting manager for property, where he was responsible for covering corporate property across Victoria, South Australia, and Tasmania.

8. Price Forbes hires head of affinity in Singapore

Ardonagh Group-owned specialty (re)insurance broker Price Forbes has appointed Eric Wang Mingchao as head of affinity in Singapore. Reporting directly to Julian Coates, chief broking officer for Price Forbes Singapore, Wang will be responsible for leading and growing the company’s facultative reinsurance portfolios across key affinity products.

9. Aon appoints associate director for Delivering Aon United, growth team

Aon has appointed Angel Chiu (pictured) as an associate director in its Delivering Aon United and growth team. Hong Kong-based Chiu joins Aon from legal consultancy firm Axiom, where she had been the senior sales manager since October. She had joined Axiom as a sales manager in December 2022.

10. Berkley Insurance Asia appoints marine claims manager

Berkley Insurance Asia has appointed Jennifer Yeoh as marine claims manager. Yeoh brings additional experience in maritime claims, having worked across several leading companies in the industry.

11. Victor Insurance Australia names underwriter

Victor Insurance Australia, an underwriting agency and authorised representative of Marsh, has appointed William Tien as an underwriter. Sydney-based Tien last held the role of underwriter for Epsilon Underwriting for nearly a year until March.
