InsuranceAsia News wraps up the people moves from the insurance industry in Asia this week.
1. AIG names head of property for Singapore, hands additional role to claims head.
Helena Nikolas has joined AIG as head of commercial property in Singapore.
Nikolas has relocated from Sydney for the role and was most recently senior property facultative underwriter at Hannover Re.
Steve Gibbs has been handed the additional role of international head of personal lines claims at AIG.
He retains his existing role as head of claims for Asia Pacific, which he has held since January 2020,

2. Aon appoints real estate, data centre leader for Southeast Asia, hires South Korea desk head
Aon has announced the appointment of Winnie Loh as real estate and data centre leader for Southeast Asia, effective immediately.
Based in Singapore, Loh will lead the strategic direction and client delivery of Aon’s real estate and data centre capability across Southeast Asia, while continuing in her role as director within Aon’s Commercial Risk team.
The broker has appointed Minhyuk Jung (Mike) to head up its South Korea desk within its global broking centre.
Seoul-based Jung joins from Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance, where he was most recently a manager.

3. Price Forbes hires Tokio Marine veteran Akihisa Hirata as director for Japan business
Tokio Marine veteran Akihisa Hirata has joined Price Forbes’ Japan practice in the Singapore office, a spokesperson for the global specialty broker told InsuranceAsia News.
In his new role as director, Hirata will report to the head of Japan, Kenichiro Miki.
Hirata was formerly head of construction at Tokio Marine Group, where he worked for 33 years in Tokyo.

4. Pinnacle Underwriting names lead for new casualty, financial lines offering across APAC, MENA
Australian facultative MGA Pinnacle Underwriting has appointed Brendan McDonald, based in Dubai, as head of casualty and financial lines for its new casualty and financial lines offering.
McDonald brings more than 20 years of international underwriting leadership experience across the UK, Middle East, Asia and Australia, with a strong reputation for building high‑performing portfolios and broker‑focused solutions.

5. Aviso Specialty hires lead for newly launched M&A practice, appoints Ex-Wallabies captain as consultant
Envest-backed broker Aviso Specialty has launched its M&A practice, led by Kane Sim.
Sim, a specialist in transactional risk insurance with over 20 years’ experience across insurance, M&A and law, was most recently leading the M&A offering at Marsh in the Pacific region.
The firm also hired former Australian rugby union team captain Michael Hooper as a consultant.
Hooper (pictured) has joined the Australian broker in a “hands on role,” and is one of the most capped players and the longest-serving captain in Australian rugby union history.

6. Oneglobal Broking hands promotion to duo
(Re)insurance broker Oneglobal Broking has promoted Sharron Khoo to Asia COO, while also elevating Andrew Ko to greater China CEO.
Singapore-based Khoo joined Oneglobal last year as executive director for operations and finance.
Meanwhile, Ko started at Oneglobal in June 2024 as executive director based in Hong Kong.

7. Liberty promotes AVP to Asia construction head
Liberty has promoted Celine Choo to head of construction for Asia.
Singapore-based Choo, who has also been named as a vice president, has been working at Liberty for nearly 16 years, most recently as assistant vice president.

8. Policybazaar Insurance Brokers CEO resigns, replacement named
Tarun Mathur has resigned as the CEO and principal officer of Policybazaar Insurance Brokers, the insurance broking arm of PB Fintech.
Mathur, who cited “personal commitments” as the reason for his exit, has been replaced by Sajja Praveen Chowdary, effective from Tuesday.

9. Zurich hires senior casualty underwriter in Singapore 
Zurich Insurance has appointed Cheryn Wong as a senior casualty underwriter in Singapore.
Wong joins from Everest, where she has been a casualty underwriter for Asia since January 2025.

10. Coface names country manager for Malaysia, head of Philippines
Coface has named Darren Chan as country manager for Malaysia and head of the Philippines.
The trade credit insurer said Chan’s (pictured) appointment was effective from April 1, and reports to Asia Pacific CEO Hugh Burke.

11. HDI Global names senior underwriter for downstream energy
HDI Global has hired Everest’s Diane Chong as senior underwriter for downstream energy.
Singapore-based Chong has close to two decades of underwriting experience across downstream and upstream energy, power, construction and renewable energy.

12. Talbot elevates underwriting duo in Singapore
AIG-backed Lloyd’s syndicate Talbot has promoted Singapore-based duo Jiewei Pang and Russell Giam to senior property underwriter and political risk underwriter, respectively.
Pang has been at Talbot for over three years, most recently as a class underwriter for property.
Meanwhile, Giam joined Talbot in January 2025 as underwriter for political risk and structured credit.

13. Allianz names new head of motor fleet underwriting in Australia
Allianz Australia has appointed Bryce Hatton as head of motor fleet underwriting.
Brisbane-based Hatton has over three decades of experience in insurance-related roles, most recently as state manager for Queensland at Strata Community Insurance between July 2024 and December.
