This September, Dive In, the leading diversity and inclusion festival for the insurance industry, celebrates its sixth year. This year the festival aims to create a global impact by empowering local voices around the world.
The 2020 festival theme is authenticity and perspective, which we reflect on the aspects of diversity and inclusion that enable us to bring our whole selves to work, drawing on our unique perspectives to solve shared challenges.
The topics of diversity and inclusion have had a positive impact on professionals in Hong Kong. Many insurance companies are committed to promote and implement diversity and inclusion practices in their workplace. While many across the world have experienced an extraordinarily challenging year, diversity and inclusion is still integral to everything we do.
Hong Kong
When the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) Hong Kong first supported the Dive In festival, we would have never of guessed how much support, encouragement, and growth we would see from companies and individuals over the years. In 2019, we hosted a Dive In event in Hong Kong with the theme of Unlocking Your Talent: How to get the best from your current talent pool.
Dive In within Hong Kong was well supported by many international insurance companies such as Willis Towers Watson, Aon, and law firms RPC, Kennedys and DLA Piper. More than 120 insurance professionals attended and shared their views and experiences during the event.
This year, Dive In Hong Kong will take place on September 22 both physically and virtually, allowing more participants to attend globally via a webinar platform. With the topic of Mental Health and Wellbeing in the Workplace, Dive In Hong Kong will cover subjects such as how to combat mental health issues, why mental wellbeing is the key to productivity, managing stress and how to create a healthy workplace by being inclusive.
Mental Health and Wellbeing are essential to the professions. Approximately 47% of participants, surveyed from over 30 countries, identified mental health as area that insurance industry needs to focus on to build more inclusive workplaces. During periods of self-isolation, with lines between work and home blurred, it has never been more important to implement, ensure and protect good working practices to prevent burnout and improve wellbeing.
Nine countries
2020 marks a milestone for nine countries including Australia, Bermuda, Canada, China, France, Ireland, Singapore, Switzerland, and the US, which each celebrate their fifth year of hosting a Dive In event.
The global and local festival partners supporting this year’s Dive In Hong Kong are AIG, Aon, Aviva, Axa, Chubb, the CII, CNA, DLA Piper, Kennedys, Lloyd’s, Markel, Marsh and Guy Carpenter, MS Amlin, RenaissanceRe, RMS, Travelers, Tokio Marine Kiln, Willis Towers Watson and ZA Insure.
