Shweta Swaroop

General Counsel, Asia & India, Howden Group

Shweta joined Howden Group in July 2022. As a part of the senior management, she focuses on strategic planning and advisory and supports retail and specialty broking businesses in Asia and India as well as high net worth life insurance broking globally. She assists business in day-to-day matters including commercial legal advisory on a range of issues from employment, commercial contracts to intellectual property etc and assists further in dispute management, M&A transactions, post transaction matters, negotiations, regulatory matters, external counsel management and business enablement.  

Prior to Howden, Shweta worked with Manulife in Singapore. She is an India qualified lawyer and started practicing in 2011. In India, she worked in a couple of roles with the Government of India (Central Vigilance Committee and State Trading Corporation) and briefly in private practice. In Singapore she also worked with a fintech start-up before moving to Manulife. She holds an LL.M degree in Corporate & Financial Services Law from National University of Singapore, LL.B from University of Delhi and a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Miranda House, University of Delhi, India.
