Christian Choi

Regional Director, ALM, Investment and Capital Development, Ageas

Christian Choi is currently the Regional Director of Ageas “Regional Director” for ALM, Investment and Capital Development in Asia, managing Euro 175B of assets across seven Asian countries.  Ageas is a Belgium-based insurance company that runs life and GI business in Europe and Asia. Christian joined the firm in July 2022. His key responsibilities are to lead the ALM, Investment and Capital Management functions and deliver the results for Ageas Asia.
Prior to joining Ageas, Christian was the CIO of Zurich Australia, in charge of the investment and Treasury functions for four years. Christian was also the Responsible Officer for Zurich Australia during the time.
Christian began his career in the Superannuation industry at State Street Australia and worked for JPMorgan and AMP Capital in Australia. Prior to leaving Australia to pursue career opportunities in HK, Christian was involved in the QFII implementation project in AMP and was also involved in a few different innovative investment product development projects, such as the future director funds and Global TAA funds.
Christian started managing insurance companies’ assets right after the Global Financial Crisis and became the CIO for MetLife HK in 2022, then the CIO of the Asia-designated market for MetLife in 2015. He has managed assets in different countries, including Australia, HK, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, China, the Philippines, India, Bangladesh, and Nepal.
Christian holds a degree in Finance, two Master’s degrees in investment management, and an MBA from Australia. He also holds a master’s degree in management from the University of Liverpool, UK.
