Dr Raymond Yeung

Chief Economist, Greater China, Australia and New Zealand Banking Group

Dr Raymond Yeung is Chief Economist, Greater China at Australia and New Zealand Banking Group, where he leads an award-winning research team. He has been recognised for his macroeconomic insights with multiple industry honours, including The Asset’s Local Currency Bond Benchmark Best Sellside Individual, KangaNews Fixed Income Research Pool awards, the FocusEconomics Forecast Award, and Asiamoney.

Raymond has garnered a strong following for his intellectual offering to ANZ’s institutional clients, including asset managers, insurers and central banks. He regularly shares his view on Bloomberg, CNBC and the Chinese media. He is the author of China’s Trump Card: Cryptocurrency and Its Game-Changing Role in Sino-US Trade, published by John Wiley & Sons in 2020.

Raymond earned a Ph.D. in economics at Queen’s University, Canada in 1999. He is a holder of Financial Risk Manager (FRM) and a Fellow of CPA Australia. He is a Steering Group Member of China Chief Economist Forum (中国首席经济学家论坛理事). Prior to joining ANZ in 2010, Raymond was Deputy Head of Asia Economic Research at Swiss Re.
