Guy Carpenter appoints new Asia leadership

Guy Carpenter has appointed Tony Gallagher (pictured) as chief executive of its Asia Pacific business, following James Nash’s relocation to London earlier this year to run the international business.

Gallagher was most recently chief executive of the Pacific region and in his new role will be responsible for strengthening Guy Carpenter’s market position across Asia Pacific and enhancing its client service capabilities. Based in Hong Kong, he will report to Nash.

“With more than 22 years of reinsurance market experience, spanning London, Tokyo and Sydney, [Gallagher] has been instrumental to our strong growth in the Pacific area, and particularly in Australia, since joining in 2013,” said Nash, in a statement.

In addition, Richard Jones has been promoted to chairman of the region. He will work closely with Gallagher. He will also continue in his role as head of Singapore, where he is based, and also reports to Nash.

“Working in tandem, [Gallagher and Jones] will drive forward our growth strategy for the region, bolster our capabilities and continue to deliver the exceptional level of service our clients demand,” said Nash.
