US broker Alliant targets Asia expansion

Alliant Insurance Services, the largest specialty insurance brokerage firm in the US, is expanding in Asia as a consequence of its acquisition of Dumortier Risk Management, a California-based insurance brokerage firm.

Dumortier has strong ties to Taiwan and China that will help Alliant grow in Asia.

In a statement, Alliant said Dumortier has employees who speak Chinese, and its strong cultural ties to Taiwan and China made its acquisition a natural progression in the expansion of the Alliant Real Estate practice from the US to Asia.

Chris Chang, president of the Los Angeles-based Dumortier, will join Alliant as an executive vice president.

Founded in 2002, Dumortier represents more than 200 hotel owners and developers.
