Prudential replaces Asia head Tony Wilkey

Prudential has replaced the head of its Asian business, Tony Wilkey, after just two years in the job.

In a statement, Prudential said Wilkey would be leaving the insurer to pursue new challenges. He will be replaced by Nic Nicandrou, the current group finance director. Mark FitzPatrick will be the new finance director.

Replacing Wilkey was part of Prudential’s senior management shakeup.

Asia continues to be the catalyst of growth for the British insurer with the region’s strong performance contributing to the 25% rise in the firm’s new business profits in the first quarter this year.

In a statement, the insurer said its new business profits hit £856 million (US$1.1 billion) in the first three months, including a 26% increase in Asia on a constant currency basis to £561 million.
