AIG names Claudia Salem as Singapore CEO

AIG has appointed Claudia Salem as its new chief executive for Singapore and head of country operations for South-East Asia. She succeeds Matt Harris, who is leaving AIG to pursue other opportunities.

Salem’s responsibility as South-East Asia’s head includes Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, the Philippines and Guam. She will report to Gaurav Garg, president and chief executive of personal insurance.

Prior to being named as the new Singapore head, Salem served in several global leadership roles since joining AIG in 2003. She was most recently the global head of shared services, based in Kuala Lumpur.

In a statement, Guarav said Salem’s strong leadership is critical to maintaining AIG’s position in the region.
